This is even more nonsensical than I thought it was. By targeting payroll taxes that's just going to make Social Security and Medicare run out of money faster.

I'm all for reducing taxes, but right now is exactly the wrong time. And, when we do it, lets cut taxes for everyone, not just families with children.

In the mean-time, how about we have a special "reduce the deficit" tax. It would take 1% of gross income from everyone (no deductions or tax credits would apply) and the proceeds would go directly to paying down our existing national debt, thus reducing the deficit created by the interest we are accruing on existing debt. Best of all, everyone would get the chance to contribute evenly.

This whole idea of paying for another generation is ridiculous.

You pay for what you use. I'll pay for what I use. That's the way things should be run. Liberals are continually trying to place the responsibility of person A on person B, and then place the responsibility of person B on person C.

I shouldn't be paying someone for their decision to have kids. And those kids shouldn't be forced to take care of me later.

@ Chris B: Mike Lee is a Tea Party darling - he is anything but Liberal.
