that's because kyle doesn't know how to prepare for those pac 12 line backers. What the heck is he going to do about Van Noy and Fua, and Unga?????

The Utes have gotten a little worse on D each year since Sitake took over ad DC. The D plays scared instead of aggressive. The secondary plays off their WR 10-15 yds giving up way too much ground. Utah gave up multiple big plays on 3rd and 4th down against OSU.

Turn-overs were neg 3 and this has been a problem in the Sitake era. Maybe it's time for Kyle Whittingham to take over the D.

    @WildCougar

Inferior team(s) like BYU? You have lost to the Utes 3 years in a row. How does that feel? Talk is cheap. Beat the Utes, otherwise it's just drivel and lip service.

Having watched PAC football for 15 years now I can truly say that EVERYONE in the conference is improving except Utah. Even WSU is showing signs of getting better and will most likely finish ahead of the u in the conference standings and get to a bowl game. In looking at the remaining schedule I can only see one possible win for the utes and that is even up in the air. It is a very real possibility that the utes will finish 3-9 this year. But hay they are in a power conference, even though they barely belong.

    Tators,

Let me guess, Utah was lucky last year against byu?

    And the year before?

    And the year before?

Isn't it interesting that Utah has been "lucky" much more than byu lately.

Want to know something interesting? Every year since our Pac 12 invite we've beaten byu in recruiting, HEAD TO HEAD and average stars.

Just think about your future if you can't even get the best Mormon kids, which you haven't the last 3 years.

I wonder if that has anything to do with the 3-0 streak those same years?

    LOL!

    @ Chris B:

Come back online 1 week from today and I'll not only explain why Utah is fortunate they can't play BYU more than once a year, but why Utah actually decided to take a few years off from playing BYU at all. In fact, Actually, I won't need to explain it. After the game next Saturday, all of that will become self-evident.

You'll also have to get some new material. I might even be able to help with that. How about "Well, at least we beat you 3 of 4 years... so maybe that still makes us better". But with all that "mark it down" stuff you've already given to everyone, they would probably still just laugh at you.

Face it, Chris... you've painted yourself into a corner. After badly missing predictions the past 2 weeks, if the Utes don't get extremely lucky this Saturday (unlike you, I'm realistic enough to admit that anything is actually possible), then you will be glad you made that promise not to post for awhile. But until then, you still have a few more days to give more hopeful predictions and mark-it-down stuff.

Sheeesh give it a rest. Utah really let one get away Saturday night. It was win-able; and in the PAC 12, that seems to be far and few between for Utah. When you score 45 points, and still don't win; your defense has a serious problem. To come on here and talk smack about BYU, or any school for that matter, would simply be silly at this point. Utah needs to step up and start winning games....period! What good is being in the PAC 12 when you can't beat anyone? It's dissapointing; to say the least. I'm trying to keep my chin up, but it's tougher and touger all the time.

    GO UTES

Tators --- That over confidence is all that the ute fan has. They live in a delusional world, where they think that their team is still in the MWC beating inferior teams. They still don't realize that their above average MWC team can't compete in a better conference. Nobody in the pac respects the utes anymore, they are just a bottom feeder or door stop to get to the bigger game in the conference. ute fan thinks they are entitled to win every game, they are stuck in the past. The utes suck.

Too bad we can't just schedule byu 12 games a year.

    Sept. 16, 2013 9:53 a.m.

    @ Chris B:

With your identical grade school level tout to "2013 Ute Seniors Sweep..." you've totally proved you are one and the same. Do you get so derided by even fellow Ute fans that you've had to resort to using a different moniker? Sad. Very sad!

You might be too young to remember anything longer than the last 3 years, but before this latest mini-run by Utah, BYU won 3 of the previous 4 games with Utah. It just seems to keep going back and forth. It's obviously now time to go back once again. If you do a bit of checking, you'd find out that BYU actually beat Utah 19 of 21 games when LaVell Edwards became coach. Compared to that, this latest 3 in-a-row back-and-forth stuff you keep bringing up is nothing! In fact, it's downright laughable!

Keep using juvenile taunts for the rest of this week, because that's all the time you have. There are already no more Rose bowl hopes, probably no more bowl hopes of any kind, and thankfully no more worn-out "As bad as we are, you're worse" stuff.

"We are all but guarantees a 4-0 start and top 25 ranking at this point."

Is a easy pick like a *guarantees?

I think it foolish to predict the outcome of the BYU v Utah game.
However, you are Chris, so that makes sense.

    @Tators

"Better start scheduling more Southern Utah and Dixie type games to go along with those Weber State wins."

Utah will. After missing out on the Bowl experience, recruiting will suffer, and Kyle will be on the hot seat. Look at how the U of U basketball team schedules it's basketball season to "earn" some W's...

    @ 2013 Ute Seniors...:

You keep using that same trite grade school tout... "As bad as we are, you're worse" (My daddy is stronger than your daddy).

It's getting old, because hardly anyone actually believes it. And next Saturday will totally prove why. What will you then use for your mantra? Back to the wonderful PAC membership thing? Are you still going to pretend that you're someone different than Chris B? Your MO's sound totally identical.

Well, at least you're actually admitting that the Utes just might be a bad team. That's being more realistic than you were a few weeks ago. And whether or not you still actually believe in those Utes, at least try using a little more originality in your posts.

  • Tators Hyrum, UT
    Sept. 16, 2013 8:57 a.m.

    @ Chris B:

How can you possibly still love your PAC membership when you've never once been competitive in it? Every season you've to fight to not finish in last place... the lowest spot in the basement. Utah has never once won a PAC season opener, nor even beat a PAC member with a winning record. To keep touting PAC membership at this point seems very desperate.

Your "Mark it down" predictions have been wrong the last 2 weeks. Next weekend will make it 3 in a row. It should be easy to keep that promise not to post on anymore BYU articles for year, since you will want to go into hiding after what happens to your beloved Utes next week. Then the final last straw in ruining the entire year will be when Utah fails to qualify for another bowl game. Utah is extremely lucky to not be 1-2 right now, after USU was ahead the vast majority of the game and with better stats... leaving only a Weber State game to tout.

Better start scheduling more Southern Utah and Dixie type games to go along with those Weber State wins.

    Veritas,

I seem to be pretty good at prediction in the byu/Utah football games don't I?

You guys are just that emotionally weak that its an easy pick.

Whether its Utah by 1 or Utah by 44(Both have happened recently for Utah, not byu), it will be Utah.

    Easy pick!

    "

Our offense is much better than their defense and our defense is much better than their offense. Considering all their injuries and the fact they lost to a division II team, I think the only scenario we lose this game is of we turn the ball over 5 times, and that just won't happen.

Look for Utah to score early and coast to an easy victory.

    Utah 34
    Osu 17

What a great game. I was surprised by Utah QBs speed. Too bad Utah lost, but no shocker, you cant throw 3 picks and expect to win.

    @ Chris B
Your posts are becoming more and more irrelevant, just like your team to the point where I can't take anything you say seriously, so i just mostly ignore your posts.

PAC 12 Roller Coaster? The Utes were down by 10 at the end of the first quarter; down 10 at the half; down ten at the end of the third quarter; barely ahead by one point at 38 - 37 late in the 4th quarter and then didn't have the guts to go for two after their last score with 15 seconds left to win in regulation. They wanted to lose in OT and they got their wish.

Generally roller coasters go up as much as they go down but Utah was "down" almost the whole time. I wonder why the DesNews reporters aren't saying the USU win wasn't anything, since it wasn't against a PAC 12 team? The spin is hilarious and reminds me of a White House Press Briefing after needing an explanation as to why the administration was less than stellar on any given issue.

UTAH = PAC 12 BASEMENT---until proven otherwise, which doesn't look likely in Year Three, just like it was squandered in Year One against Colorado in SLC and didn't really exist in Year Two.

Anyone who thinks Utah will play in the Rose Bowl after losing a home game to OSU is delusional.

"Utah comes up short in roller-coaster Pac-12 opener vs. Oregon State"

Actually, the Utes trailed almost the entire game in losing at home to a team that lost at home to Eastern Washington.

As usual, the Utes open PAC play with a loss, and this year, instead starting 0-4, Utah's PAC losing streak could very easily grow to 7 or 8 before the Utes stop the bleeding.

The Utes desperately need a win versus the Cougars to keep their slip bowl hopes alive. Unfortunately for U, that isn't going to happen. BYU will once again be Utah's bowl game.

After Saturday, the only thing the Utes will have to look forward to is the annual pillow fight in the rockies to determine who gets to spend the long cold winter in the PAC basement.

"And guess who is very much alive for a power conference title game and rose bowl?"

I have a side ache from laughing so hard. The fantasy lives on. You do know that your little red engine that could just lost at home to a lower middle PAC team that lost at home to a D2 team right?

Hanging by your fingernails to the ledge, what happens if the final pipe dream crumbles next Saturday?

Oh ya, you'll still be very much alive for a power conference title game and rose bowl. I don't care who you are, that's just funny.

And - good to see you're OK. We've been worried about your absence since last night's debacle.

  • Chris B Salt Lake City, UT

    Max,

No, unlike you, we still have a prestigious conference championship game and rose bowl to play for.

Beating byu will just be a detour

    Your season ended in Virginia.

We will be in contention for a prestigious conference championship and rose bowl within last 1-2 games of season.

What are you guys still capable of?

    Lol!

I love my PAC 12 membership, and so do byu fans

And that 4-0 SWEEP over van noy, Hoffman, and others is going to be sweet!

And yes, guess whose quest ended six hours after it started in Virginia,

And guess who is very much alive for a power conference title game and rose bowl?

Yes, I do love my PAC 12 membership.

    Your jealousy is palpable.

I LOVE MY PRESTEGIOUS PAC-12 BCS MEMBERSHIP!!!!!! Can't even win against middle of the PAC Oregon State @ home on HOMECOMING?????? Have to go to trickery to beat a WAC 2.0 team at home. 4-0 and Top 25???? The only thing you have left to play for is your 4-0 sweep of the team from down south. MARK THAT DOWN!!!!!

  • SCUte Rock Hill, SC

Tough loss, but we need to start strong - not just finish strong. These Utes will earn some respect this year and surprise a few teams along the way. Starting next week, we will be back to our winning ways! No one knows about that team down south. are they as good as the team that beat a ranked Texas team or are they the team that lost to a poor Virginia squad and handled a very mediocre Texas? Same with the Utes - are they the team that beat a very good Aggie team or a team that lost in OT to a very decent OSU. I think this is a close as we will have seen in a long time for two evenly matched teams - History says Utah - Mystery says BYU - I will go with History!!!
