Why does the Church hold a party to recognize a sheriff? I've never heard of such a thing. Help me out with this one.

I'm with you on that. Is the Sheriff elected by the people in his county? and as such, do he and his deputies deal fairly with the public by upholding good charactor and Constitutional laws, and not enforcing those that pass under the color of law? The article has told me nothing of value here...

I also give applaud Sheriff Baca. He is a genuine hero. I've lived in Los Angeles for 52 years and I've never seen a sheriff as solid as Sheriff Baca.

He personally has saved us and the Church many, many times.

One evening, our home was broken into while we were sleeping. I awakened to a man with an evil gun pointed straight at me. Within seconds, Sheriff Baca broke down the front door of our home, and with another dozen officers came upstairs and captured the intruder. We were all saved!

Then, on another occasion, we were sitting in Sacrament Meeting, when a gunman came into our chapel and paced up and down the aisles with his evil gun in his hand. Again, within seconds, Sheriff Baca burst into the chapel and captured the gunman. Fear was erased. Hearts were gladdened. Joy was spread. We all stood and cheered our great sheriff. There was not a dry eye in the audience that day.

Finally, two of our good missionaries were recently spit upon by a passerby. Sheriff Baca personally pulled that person over and had him apologize to the elders.

He is truly a hero and friend.

Why fly to California and ignore those in your own state?
