This game was an embarrassment to Westlakes defense. They could not figure out how to stop the run. I was disappointed that the coaches made no adjustments at to stop this run. To anyone who plays Lehi, get ready for a heavy dose of run, run, run, run, and then some more run. And to defenses that play them, do not crash three players from the weak side and chase the play. Have your linebacker slide the line, Westlake was killed on every long run on the cut back at the line and the linebacker was 5 yards behind every time chasing the play. I was shocked the Westlake coaching staff couldn't figure this out.

One more thing, Westlake threw a pass in the endzone for and INT that could have made this game very different if it wasn't thrown. Don't throw a fade route to a WR who is 5' 4" when he is being covered by someone 6' 1", you wont win the jump ball. Terrible coaching last night on Westlakes behalf. Assignment football is necessary while playing Lehi. Go figure!

I really don't see Lehi or Westlake hanging with Herriman, Riverton Lone Peak, AF and especially PG. Last night was there last chance for league victory and for bragging rights in that part of Utah County. Region 4 is a tough league.

I was surprised that Lehi won and expected Westlake to get the win. This weeks upsets makes Region 4 very interesting. The big winners of this weekend are Herriman and American Fork...Herriman is one step closer to the playoffs and in the drivers seat for winning the region/American Fork puts itself in position to edge out Riverton for the 4th and final playoff spot in the region. The big losers of this weekend are Lone Peak, Riverton and Westlake...Lone Peak was predicted to win the region and may have lost that now/Riverton may be in danger of not making the playoffs/Westlake had an outside chance to get some upsets against American Fork and possibly Riverton and sneak into the playoffs, but that is all but lost now.

I predict the October 24th game of Pleasant Grove at Herriman will determine the Region 4 title and the Region will finish like this:

1. Herriman
2. Pleasant Grove
3. Lone Peak
4. American Fork
5. Riverton
6. Lehi
7. Westlake

Region 4 is paired up with Region 1 in the playoffs and I believe Region 4 will get 3 and possibly 4 teams into the quarterfinals!!!

I see PG winning Region 4. Proven past state title coach with plenty of talent turning a program around that always had plenty of potential.

Always good to see armchair coaches at itʻs finest. Lehi scored 4 touchdowns on itʻs first 4 drives (practically the 1st quarter) and then 1 the rest of the game (8+drives). To say that Westlakeʻs coaches didnʻt make adjustments is ignorant and shame on you to think that. Of the 5 TDʻs Lehi scored, 3 were missed assignments where the runners still broke at least 2 tackles before scoring. They gave up one TD after the half and maybe 3 first downs that whole second half. They also dropped an easy TD or 2 above that horrible interception. To assume that Westlake is done is crazy. Iʻll be sure to remember UtahBruin and Eagle when they get at least 2 wins in region play.

@BYUtough - UtahBruin was a little harsh in the assessment of Westlake's team, however I think it illustrates how important or devastating this loss was to Westlake and their playoff chances. I actually had predicted Westlake to beat Lehi and then possibly get 1 or 2 upsets over Riverton and/or American Fork.

Since Region 4 has 7 teams...at least 3 wins are needed to make the playoffs. Westlake has 5 remaining region games against Lone Peak, Pleasant Grove, Riverton, American Fork and Herriman...I'm not sure if they can get 3 wins against those teams. So, Westlake is not done...but they are definitely on the outside looking in!!!

@eagle - I think Pleasant Grove has as good a chance as any team to win Region 4. However, I think Herriman is in a good position with the fact that they already beat Lone Peak and get Riverton and Pleasant Grove at home. I truly believe the Oct. 24th game Pleasant Grove at Herriman will determine the Region 4 Title. Regardless of how the region finishes...I believe Region 4 will be a force to deal with come playoff time!!!

With all due respect to Region 3, Region 4 is by far the toughest region from top to bottom. Everyone knows that Copper Hills and West Jordan have no chance at making the playoffs whereas in Region 4, to assume that it's a 2 team race between Herriman and PG is ridiculous, especially after only 1 week of region play. If anything, you can say that all 3 region games last Friday were upsets and that says a lot of how tough our region is going to be.
We've watched film on Lehi and Westlake and let me be the first to say that these are not your WL and Lehi teams of last year. Coach Hastings seems to finally have the players and experience he needed to get that Double Wing going and Coach Clements has totally changed the way Westlake is playing (watching film on both teams from last year and this year is just amazing with the kids play and attitudes).
We'll definitely have a more definitive idea of how things will play after this Friday. If WL and Lehi keep it close or upset PG and AF, it's going to be a very fun season.

Im just proud of the boys and how they played. Lets keep in mind that Lehi won so the subject is, are they fo reals!!! Ill be back on here to comment on Saturday after you all make up some other excuse of how lucky Lehi got lucky or squeeked by lol.

@Olypride - Thank you for recognizing that Region 4 is one of the toughest or possibly the toughest region in the 5A and Utah. I don't think that Region 4 is a 2 team race between Herriman and PG...I think its actually a 5 team race (LP, PG, Riverton, AF and Herriman) for 4 spots. My point about Herriman and PG is this: PG seems like the strongest team in the region and has the ability to win each region game and Herriman put themselves in an awesome position by beating LP away...because of that...I think they both can go undefeated in region. This past weekends games hurt Riverton and Westlake the most.

Games of note for Friday are American Fork at Westlake and Lone Peak at Riverton. Both Westlake and Riverton can redeem their losses and get back in the playoff mix with wins.

If Lehi were to somehow upset PG...that would really mix things up in the playoff race. As I've said all along...Region 4 will be the most interesting region to watch this year!!!
