@Napolean DynomiteThen I guess you would prefer to have University
of Idaho and or University of Montana. They were in the original Pac-8 Then
they dropped out and UCLA was added. I will go ahead and keep ASU and the
Wildcats over Montana and Idaho. But I get the sarcasm. Funny! I
still don't recognize Utah and Colorado, but like I have said before.
Thanks for the money and the win.
I hear you UtahBruin. I'm a PAC-8 man myself. I still can't
understand why they added those weak Arizona WAC teams to the league. I
won't ever accept them. Go PAC-8!
CougarSunDevilI agree with your post. I don't think this is
the Utes year either, but you just never know in the Pac-10*I just still
can't recognize Utah and Colorado, sorry Utes, I am born and bread Pac-10,
have been for 40+ years. I am just grateful not to have been a USC fan, boy it
was close with an Uncle who worked there. But CougSD, I am and have been very
impressed with the Devils over the years, I was actually glad to see Erickson
go. Not that he is bad, I just think in years passed his teams have got away
from him, and I thought he was stacked with talent at ASU only to have par
seasons. I just want the PAC to be strong, the east coast bias gets old. So
for me this weekend, it is all about GO BRUINS, Devils, Wazzu, Huskies, Ducks,
Wildcats, Buffs, Bears and Cardinals, and I guess SC since it is outta conf.
And I guess it is, go Beavers, I got to choose someone and I just think that the
Beavers are better than they advertised. Nov 23rd Yikes!
Also UtahBruin"How did you guys ever let [Brett Hundley] get out
of Arizona?" I'm not sure how easy it would be to turn down
the beaches and weather of southern California over the 120 degree heat the
Devils live in. He's grown up in the heat, I can see why he would want out.
Tough loss for us, but hey, everyone has to make the decision that is right for
them. Good luck to Hundley, I hope he continues to be successful.
Hey UtahBruin,I'm in no way selling off UCLA. Let's face
it, they've carried the south mantle for two years now. I think they have a
great program and they are working themselves into title contention every year.
I also agree that Sac St. is certainly not a barometer either. I can only say
that for all the years I've been a season ticket holder for ASU, I've
seen some good things last year and early this year. I think ASU has the pieces
together to make some good things happen this year. Much to the dismay of some
Ute fans, I just don't think the Utes are in it this year. However, there
are some teams having what appears to be a down year (See USC) so who knows. I think UCLA and ASU will see good measuring sticks this week. I hope
they both win, to bring strength to the PAC-12 RPI and set up a great game come
November 23rd. But even if they both don't, I won't think it's
because they are not good teams. Good luck UtahBruin, Thanks for keeping it
Dito to CanyontrekerOSU is the only game that matters this week.
OSU is the only game that counts in September. I don't care about being
ranked. I don't care about BYU. Utah must win on Saturday and go into
October 1-0 in the PAC.Go Utes!
Also, CougarSunDevil, Sacramento State is not a great measuring stick of your
team. As you say we will learn more about UCLA this weekend after Nebraska in
Lincoln, I couldn't agree more. We will also learn a lot when Wisconsin
comes to town also. I am pulling for the Devil in this one, I just can't
root for anyone in the Big10, especially Wisconsin. It is a Rose Bowl thing.
@CougarSunDevilYou say ASU is the team to beat in the South, and you
may be right, I don't know. But do not sell UCLA off just yet. You say
ASU lost to UCLA on a last minute field goal last year. But if you remember
watching that game, ASU was chasing UCLA all game long. Yes, ASU jumped out to
an early 14-0 lead, but after the 1st quarter it was 14-14 and ASU was chasing
from there. It wasn't until the fourth quarter did ASU even take the lead
and with only a minute and a half left in the game. Although I agree with you
that ASU has improved. However, despite UCLA losing some key players from last
year, I think they might be better than last year. Brett Hundley now as a
Sophomore has a years experience under his belt and being from Chandler, AZ, you
know he wants to beat ASU every year. How did you guys ever let him get out of
Arizona? We love him at UCLA! GO BRUINS!!!!!! Mormons for Brown Bears (UCLA)!
It's just not as sinister as yours sounds.
Chris BASU has your number. It's not the Utes or UCLA. ASU is
the team to try and beat in the south. ASU lost to UCLA last year on a last
minute field goal. ASU is much better now and I'm not sure UCLA is yet.
We'll know more after their Nebraska game this weekend. Go
CougarsMormons for Devils (ASU)!
Good luck Utah. This is a winnable game. Not sure you'd be
ranked if/when you win this game considering who Oregon St. lost to, but you
guys should take this game. Would set up a pretty fun game and add
to the hype in week 4. Go Cougars!Mormons for Devils (ASU)!
@UteologyA very pivotal game indeed. Looking at the schedule's
it's important to get a W on Saturday. I must admit, Wilson has looked
good, but a big differrence between Weber St and OSU. The Utah St. win is going
to look better and better with each passing week; that's a solid team.
I think ASU is still the team to beat in the South, more so than UCLA.As
for the BYU "fans", they should be more concerend about their qb who is
throwing a 33% completion percentage and the fact that no other teams will be
playing the nickle and dime to defend the BYU option as Texas did.The
Oregon St. game will be a very competitive hard fought victory 34-27.
Our D has dominated OSU each of the last two years....14 of OSU's 21 points
last year were courtesy of gift-wraps provided by our then ultra-generous
O....OSU managed to drive the length of the field precisely once and this
didn't occur 'til the 2nd half.W/the slew of new injuries
for OSU, I'm right now as confident of us winning as I can be, short of
outright guaranteeing it!Go Utes!
The Weber State was a good practice game, OSU will be a real test. I'm excited to see if Utah defense's can dominate like we have in
the past. Last years defense was anything but impressive. Against Utah State
we looked bad until we went down 14-23, after that point (3rd 11:00) USU was
held to ~85 yards and 3 points. Considering the offense has been
abysmal the last several years, the offense has looked impressive even against
Weber State. Wilson's ability to make big plays is refreshing. Wilson
looks like a true Elite 11 QB.
@ Weber State GraduateThe only person saying that stuff is you.
However, Utah's 5th string > Weber St. How embarrassing for you.@ J-TXLiterally the most ironic statements I've ever
read@ Down underUtah is receiving votes in the coaches
poll. I don't think Utah will be ranked after this week, but "if"
Utah wins convincingly and a few key teams lose the Utes could find themselves
in the rankings.
@ChrisBI don't know Chris, 8-4 or 9-3, that is pretty bold so
early in the season. We will find out this weekend how tough my Bruins really
are as they face Nebraska in Lincoln. As a Bruin fan I am hoping we beat you,
especially since I live in Utah, it gets tough when we do lose. But I am
hopeful and confident. But you guys have UCLA, Stanford, Arizona and USC all
back to back. Then you get a bye week and have Arizona State who was picked to
win the PAC-10 South and then Oregon. Those are potentially 6 losses right
there, and you still have an improving Colorado, Wazzu. And Oregon State I do
not think is going to be as easy as you may think, and you are at BYU who has
two weeks to prepare. 4-8 as possibility also. It will not be easy. Good luck
to your Utes this week. GO UCLA BRUINS!
@J-TX:"Pride cometh before the fall..."Can I
get, "Slogans TDS should actually adhere to" for $500, please?Go Utes!
Duckhunter ... I agree, the headline for this article is ridiculous.Chris B ... unless Utah beats Oregon State by 50 points, they won't be
ranked next week. Sorry, it's not going to happen. Now if they win and then
beat BYU, maybe they'll then be ranked in the top 25.To the
rest of my fellow Ute fans that think Utah will roll this week ... I wish I
could share in your optimism. I'm not saying that Utah can't or
won't win, but I have a feeling Oregon State will prove to be a tougher
opponent than some of you are giving them credit for. Eastern Washington could
and would beat a lot of FBS teams if given the chance, don't read too much
into that loss by the Beavs.
Chris B and Spokane Ute, (two peas in the pod,Utah will not be ranked if
they get lucky enough to win. That was proved last week by the pollsters and it
will not be over by halftime. By the way OSU will play the entire game not just
one half. No wonder u struggle winning in the pac, you forgot that points still
count in the 2nd half.
Weber State Grad sour grapes. It's not our fault your team couldn't
stop the run.J-Tx you should be saying that to your Y friends.
They're saying they're going to run all over the U like they did
Texas. I doubt that will happen. Right now Taysom is a 1 trick pony without a
pass game he and this offense is easy to beat.
Pride cometh before the fall....
It would be huge for the Utes to start 1-0 in the PAC. OSU 'should'
have Utah's full attention because this game is very important.
Them there Utes are the most powerful team in the world. They are gonna win the
Rose Bowl this year and the national championship! No team can even touch
them...just ask Ute fans, and thell setcha straight. The Utes are so dang
awesome. They are gonna blow out every team they face this year...just look at
what they did to Weber...the're totally awesome man! The NFL can't
even find a team that can beat those monster Utes. Heck, they could even win the
Super Bowl this year if the NFL would let them play! The whole state is rootin
for ya Utes!
I think the offense will roll. My main concern is on the defensive side of the
ball. OSU passes for 450 yards a game and mannions completion percent is 79%.
I'm certainly not over confident going into this game. I think Utah will
win, but It won't be over at half. You can't take anyone for granted;
just ask USC.GO UTES!>---->
The headline for this article is incredibly weird, what team doesn't
"Utah's offense hopes to pass, run well against Oregon State" hope
to do those things every game?
What's not included right here is how much key-injuries are mounting for
OSU.Nothing in fact to find joy in, but rather something which tilts
the most realistic possible outcome more heavily into The U's favor. If I were to guess, I'd state a U victory, comfortably, somewhere
w/in 14-28. Based upon all variables, I'd be genuinely surprised if OSU
were to have the horses necessary, in order to keep the game competitive for too
long.My hope is, we jump on them early and quickly remove their
will, in order to yet again remove our starters early and avoid any potential
I am still concerned with our ability to run the ball. Kelvin York has yet to
have a good game and our offensive line is lacking the push it needs to move it.
This is a crucial game and I think the Utes will pull this one out, but look for
Oregon State to pass it frequently and hopefully Utah's secondary will be
up for the challenge.
The Ute offense is showing some life like we haven't seen in 4 years.
Still, it's early on in the season and each week the offense faces new
defenses that will bring greater challenges the further we go. What
about Utah's defense? We are stoked about the improvements as fans on the
offensive end, but the defense also looks different relative to showing life as
well. When I say different, I don't necessarily mean better. This years
team plays with a young swag but they have a lot to develop other than talent
when they face the multidimensional looks they will get in the PAC 12.
Don't get me wrong the defense was relatively strong on USU and Chuckie
Keaton who went on to score 52 points on Air Force the next week. It's okay BYU beat Texas. The rivalry will be fierce this year. With the
break coming up in the series and BYU coming off a bye and a big win will stay
home and prep for an electric atmosphere on their field. Utah will be ready
though. Both teams have question marks but excitement and possibility are
running at both programs. Stoked for rivalry.
OSU defense should be better than Weber State, but not that much better based on
the last two weeks results. Utah should be able to put up a good win in the
42-24 range if their defense plays solid. If the defense is exploited, whoever
has the ball last wins.
This Ute fan does not share Ken's opinion and I don't think I've
ever seen his name on here before. I've been on here off and on for about 7
years and I think the blue trolls are notorious for posting ridiculous comments
in the name of the Utes. And if not, give Oregon State some respect Ken. Back to Oregon State, Mannion is a 'real deal' QB that will
probably end up in the NFL sooner or later. He was 31-43 for 372 yards, 4
TD's, 1 INT, and a passer rating of 170.8, he has to be respected by the
Ute secondary. But this is also the secondary's time to show if they are
ready for what could be a 10 straight game dogfight since both Colorado and
Wazzu have shown vast improvements, but I think the Ute secondary will surprise
as will the LB's and DE's. Orchard is quickly becoming my favorite
player. Utes are getting the home -3 from Vegas, so not much there
to work with. If Wilson can play like he has the past couple of weeks, all
should be fine. Can't wait for Saturday night. UTES!
This one will be over by halftime. I think this offense will put up close to 30
each game. Usu's defense is about as good as any we will see, and our
offense will only improve. Our defense is more than sufficient to handle most
PAC 12 teams WITH the offense we finally have. I think we take this one by at
I think we will be ranked after this win. Utah is well on our way to
8-4 or 9-3 and I like our chances of winning the south. It's us
