Let's look at the "respect" the national experts have for byu.

Texas drops from 16 to unranked.

If byu were half the national power their fans think, surely it wouldn't have been such a bad loss to go from 16 to unranked!

There has been much more talk of the embarrassment for Texas than the amazing play of byu.

I wonder if it has something to do with what a go fast go hard offense did to Virignia:

Oregon 59
Virginia 10

Maybe you guys should have tried a go fast go hard approach against them.

Oh, you did?

LOL!

In 2 weeks, Utah will be 4-0 ranked, having beaten byu(fourth time in a row), usu, weber, and clearly shown why we are the one and only true national program in the state.

And since we're leaving you guys to build our rivalries with other power conference teams, it will be fun to see your yearly battles for the second best program in the state.

Ya most national progams tend to sit home during the hollidays, dont beat any decent conference teams and brag about beating a lowly weber state team... sounds about right to me

@Chris B.

Your smack talk might be worth something IF you defeat a Pac-12 opponent with a winning record. U have yet to do that since joining the league.

Chris B,

It's funny how all Utah has to do is play two teams from Utah to prove they are a "true national program." BYU is going about this all wrong. We need less Texas, Wisconsin, and Notre Dame and more Southern Utah, Weber St. and UVU to make us a "true national program." FIRE TOM HOLMOE!!

And Chris, I truly hope you don't believe your going to build a rivalry with USC, Oregon, or Stanford. Washington State might be a good one, oh but they have Washington. Oregon State could be a good one too, oh but they have Oregon. UCLA?? They have USC, sorry man. The true rivalries are already established, so you and Colorado can enjoy your makeshift rivalry and pretend like you care about it. You will ALWAYS be BYU's little brother and now you will always be little brother in the PAC 12.

Ranked 46th on USA Today. Some true national program.

If Texas had lost to anyone ranked in the top 25 40-21, they still would have dropped out of the polls.

Agree with the article that the change from week one to week two is significant. BYU has two weeks to prepare for the Utes who have had BYU's number the past three years, and Bronco has a great record when he has extra time to prepare for a game.

The game with Utah is critical to a successful season. An 8-4 season would seem successful but if one of those eight victories does not include Utah the season will be a failure.

Last weeks trouncing of Texas, and make no mistake BYU showed up big in that win, but the next game is a season maker. Winning game three will set the stage for a run that will propel the Cougars into the top 20 and set up some very meaningful contests with Notre Dame and Wisconsin on the road.

Open a bag of plays that the Utes are unaware of and put everything on the line to win this game. After the opening drive touchdown try the onside kick. If we recover it we score again and put Utah in a vulnerable position, if we fail the defense will go to work and get the three and out.

The point is pull out all the stops. Use every weapon in the arsenal and don't take your foot off their throat. This one needs to be a game for the ages, one that we can watch on BYU-TV for the next 10 years.

Let's get back to dominating the Utes like we used to. The legacy of Bronco Mendenhall starts now and BYU football is primed for the breakout season that will put them on the national stage that ESPN is providing for them.

Sambone,

We beat you.

So however "bad" we are, you're WORSE

Boy Chrissy, for someone that supposedly follows CFB you don't appear to have learned anything. It didn't matter WHO beat Texas, what mattered is that they were pistol-whipped and beaten to a pulp. Wouldn't have mattered if it was ND or Ohio State...they gave up 550 on the ground! Get with it CB...if you're going to talk trash at least learn how to use some logic.

@ Chris B (and other trolls):

Yes, Chris... By all means, let's indeed look at the respect both BYU and Utah are getting from the national experts (as you yourself referred to them):

USA Today's latest rankings:
BYU - 33
Utah - 46

So Chris, it's pretty obvious who is getting the most national respect from the "national experts" and impressing them the most. It's not Utah. I would imagine you're now going to try telling us that USA Today is no longer the experts you said they were just 3 hours ago.
You continue being absolutely hilarious... week after week.

Crissy is on a roll again. It must sting to be left out of any mention by the TRUE football pundits. Sorry CB but, and I can't believe I am saying this, the national experts seem to know more than you d about college football. Until today I thought you were the national expert on everything about college football and we should all hang on every word you say.

But seriously folks!

So at least Crissy admits that Utah is bad. We are making progress.

@ Chris:

You live in a very peculiar bubble. You keep saying things about Utah getting national respect and being a national powerhouse... all because Utah belongs to the PAC12 conference. I like Kyle and his team, but you need a shot of reality before continuing on with your silly charade about Utah owning the world and BYU owning nothing. So here are some facts:

Whenever a fan of one of the other conference teams writes in on a DN article, they inevitably talk about how Utah has not garnered any respect from any of the other PAC12 teams... especially from any of the upper tier teams. They literally laugh at the idea of Utah having a rivalry with any of them... with Colorado the only possible exception. That's fact, not opinion.

Another fact... Utah has yet to beat one team from the PAC12 with a winning record. Not one! How much national respect do you honestly think that has gotten them?

Still another fact. Utah has contested for the bottom spot in the conference each and every year they've been a member. The perennial cellar dweller.

Losing record last year.

Other fans are laughing at you, Chris.

Too funny! Another story turns into Chris B vs. the trollerss!! And over a story about one guy's opinion. What it all comes down to is play on the field. I think the guy's "guess" at where the teams are ranked is comical in and of itself. Did Texas really drop 26 spots because it lost to byU? That means that he REALLY guessed wrong in his prior rankings! And if he had "guessed" more correctly on his prior "guess", would byU have climbed up as much? Who knows?

I personally think that USU is a much more complete team than byU, that CK is lightyears better than Hill, and USU should be ranked as such. But, my opinion, just like this guy's, is just that - an opinion. You guys can argue and bicker over one guys opinion, and that's fine. I find entertainment in banter too. But I will take the results on the field over one man's "guess" any day. And since September 21 is byU's "Superbowl", you have a lot riding on the outcome! You better hope Hill miraculously learns how to throw by then!

Go Utes!

We can safely assume that neither BYU or Utah will win the national championship. That's all that matters.

Sambonethegreat
Salt Lake City, UT

Yawn, Chris is still trying to hide from the fact that the U hasn't beaten a single PAC opponent with a winning record since joining the league. Still waiting.

If USU and BYU are so bad compared to Utah, why do U even gloat over those victories? It just cheapens your wins and gains U no respect U might have otherwise gotten from those respective fan bases.

The Anti Chris
Salt Lake City, UT

Chris must be really frustrated that his utsies cannot not get any respect nationally. He posted 3 of the first 10 comments. His jealousy is seeping out all over. The two real power schools in the state move moved up significantly in the eyes of the experts of the football world.. Utah's sos is now at 138 and they barely got 2 votes in the coaches poll and 0 in the AP poll. Ouch.

But seriously folks!
Salt Lake City, UT

Well so much for being in a power conference and getting national respect from the voters.
BYU and USU rock and are clearly the two best teams in the state. Utah got luck in their game against the Aggies. They were on the ropes toward the end of the game and eeked it out.
