Comparing a win over the 08 Bama and this years Texas is stupid...."You will
never dominate a top program the way byu did." That statement is completely
subjective and carries about as much weight as beating a top program in a down
year. Beating a top program doesnt make it a quality W. Bringing up
stats to say who dominated more... Stats dont come close to painting the entire
picture. Utah played an Alabama team that was a half a quarter away from the
ncg, and made it through the SEC regular season undefeated. Not to mention Utah
played them in their back yard. Game wasnt nearly as close as the score
indicated. Their longest scoring drive was 35 yards. 35. Their lone offensive TD
came from a fumble and the other was a punt return TD. All we heard was bout
Bamas O-line, and how it was one of the best, if not the best, in the country.
They avg'd 200 yards rushing per game, Utah held them to 30. Sacked the
quarterback 8 TIMES. Oh and that amazing SEC defense? Bama is lucky Utah was in
kill the clock mode for half the game.
Add Auburn, Tennessee and Nebraska to Marked it Down's list of USC, Alabama, Florida, Florida St, Miami, LSU, Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma,
Ohio State, Penn St, and Michigan and you have every consensus major
college football national champion since 1982, two years before BYU won
it's consensus national championship in 1984.BYU has played 6
of those elite OOC teams in LES since 1984: Texas(1988 and 2013), Miami(1990),
Penn St(1992), Notre Dame(1993 and 2004), USC(2003), and Florida State(2009).Alabama was also scheduled to pay a return visit to LES, but the Crimson

@ SwoopBecause Alabama was a NC contender and a top 5 or top 10 for
virtually the entire season. Texas is not. They have a "big" name, but
they are not a good team.I didn't bring up Colorado, or how
close the Bama was, so I don't understand how I was being inconsistent.BYU was much better BECAUSE Texas was awful. Those two options
aren't exclusive.Elite program and elite team are not
synonymous. (For example, Utah 41 - Texas A&m 21 in 2004.)

Reading these comments is great entertainment. As a Utah fan I looked forward

significantly better than Texas is/will be this year?"And you
know this how?Utah fans are constantly assuming that their
particular snapshot in time is the only valid view of the world, and that
nothing before or after that particular moment in time is valid.Utah's early domination of Alabama negates the much closer final results
(in the view of Utah fans), yet Colorado's early domination of Utah (in
2011) is completely ignored by those same Utah fans, because the final results
were much closer. The inconsistency on the hill is laughable. It is possible, you know, that instead of Texas being awful, BYU was
simply much better. I know that's a difficult concept for the hill trolls
to accept, but it is possible.Regardless, the fact remains, Utah has
NEVER dominated an elite program to the extent that BYU dominated Texas. The final stats are proof of that.

once for a TD. In fact, Mack and Asiata combined for a total of 17 caries that
game, and 11 of them came late in the second half when Utah was trying to kill
the clock. It's blatantly obvious that Utah didn't even try to
establish the run. The game plan was pass heavy from the start. On the other
hand, Taysom threw 26 passes against Texas (and only completed 9). There were
even more pass plays called but Hill decided to scramble on several of them.
Point is, BYU didn't come into the Texas game with a plan to run like that.
The Cougars tried to establish the pass in each of the last two weeks, with very
little success. BYU has to run so much that because the passing game is
completely non-existent. Lucky you found a team who was completely unprepared
I love how a Ute fan points out to this years recruiting class and shows how
dominate they are in Utah. Aren't those slow, choir boys as Chris B. calls
them. I thought that since Utah is in a power conference that they can recruit
anywhere in the nation. Last I saw BYU was in between 50-60 in rivals and
scouts, while Utah was 70-75 in the 2 services. Pretty sad when a weak,
mid-conference type program like BYU is getting better recruits. Look for the
ranking go up, won't be surprised if that Fred Werner kid is rated higher
by the end of the season. All the Pac-12 schools want him now. He is getting a
lot of love in southern cal from the recruiting sites!
This late start means that the game will be on prime time for west coast.
Unfortunately for many fans back east, if they want to watch the game, they will
be up into the wee hours. My guess is that is exactly what they will be doing.
If BYU wants to expand their recruiting onto the west coast, they need to take
advantage of this game and they need to perform another Texas beatdown.
To Chris B. I hope you keep commenting, your comments are so entertaining. I
hope you will keep commenting for the next two years too after your superior

two ferYour "facts" are a little off; Alabama wasn't
quite a Top 5 team in 2008.Alabama finished #6 in the AP and Coaches
polls. It's laughable how Utah fans distort the "facts"
according to their own crimson-shaded view of the world. If Alabama
was a Top 5 team in 2008 (because they were ranked in the Top 5 when Utah played
them), then Texas was a Top 15 team in 2013 (because were ranked in the Top 15

2ferDespite your whiny excuses, BYU dominated Texas to a degree that
far exceeds what Utah did to Alabama.Utah's season-long stats
are meaningless when it comes to evaluating Utah's offensive production

because their running game versus Alabama was NON-EXISTENT!No matter
how much you spin it, THIRTEEN rushing yards TOTAL is proof positive that the
Utes couldn't "do both" versus Alabama.

@ talkinsportsAlabama was a top 5 team and it was definitely not a
home game for Utah. BYU was at home, and Texas is not a top 25 team. It takes a
lot of audacity to claim that a week 2 victory over a mediocre team makes
Utah's Sugar Bowl win "pale by comparison." I've read some
ridiculous things on here, but wow.....Utah moved the ball very well
through the air in the Sugar Bowl, but throughout the season Utah proved to be a
strong running team too. Asiata had over 700 yards on the ground, Mack had over
500, and as a team Utah had over 2000 yards on the ground. At the same time BJ
threw for just under 3000 yards. Utah could do both. So far this year, BYU
cannot. The only thing BYU has been able to do so far this season is run the

more accurate measurement tool than points-per-game, unless you filter out all

can be made to look mediocre by points-per-game if their offense or special

algorithms of SOS/past league championships/who-played-who/quality wins/in-state

yet here I am reading it.Fact is, BYU clearly has a better national
brand and respect, deserved or not, and Utah has pretty much owned us in recent
years. How embarrassing to deny BYU's national respect, or to claim every
Ute victory is a fluke. Blowouts are few and far between. These teams have
been extremely well matched in recent history. The 9/21 game could go either
way, and none of the ridiculous algorithms will make a bit of difference. I
hope BYU puts an embarrassing beatdown on Utah just to shut up the big mouths of

@WiscougarfanThis was, of course, in response to fans on both sides
that feel a win is a slam dunk. It isn't, this is a rivalry
game where anything can happen (although I personally believe that BYU is going

you think "BYU is going to destroy the Utes" (aka you "feel a win is

problem we've had is competing in the PAC-12 (BYU is 2-4).Also,

FelisConcolor:I don't see any Ute fans BRAGGING about beating Weber
State. If you're talking about Ute fans that are high on Travis
Wilson's play I think most are referring to his performance against Utah
State because it was a solid performance and, as Ute fans, we can tell Travis
has gotten better since last year. And don't try to say Utah State
wasn't a good win because BYU's win against them last year was by far
their best win of the season. It's hard to say how good Travis is but
we'll have a lot better idea after the next 2 games. I'm just going to
ignore his performance against Weber because it doesn't tell us anything.
In all honesty, I still don't know what to think about Utah so far but
Oregon State will be a good measuring stick to see how far they've come
since last year.

@steelute - just another petty, inconsequential point of fake superiority to

I'd say they're both probably above average over the last couple of
decades, but not consistently top notch, and yes - roughly equally capable of

Chris B: You are wrong that power conferences will never have a rival
with non power conferences. USC plays Norte Dame and the country views that as
one of the Nations best rivalries. Last I checked Norte Dame doesn't

not going bowling last year sure proves that the yewts are the best team in the

more reasonable than this. If you read the whole post you'd see that my
assertion the teams are pretty even was based on 1) head-to-head (edge Utah), 2)
wins against winning teams (edge BYU), and 3) the overall mediocrity of both
programs in recent years. This was, of course, in response to fans on both
sides that feel a win is a slam dunk. It isn't, this is a rivalry game
where anything can happen (although I personally believe that BYU is going to
destroy the Utes a la what you did to us a couple years ago).
Why do I read this stuff....
Both teams have some workhorses. Both teams have strengths and weaknesses.
Both teams have great coaches. The rivalry game is always intense and always
exciting. Both fan bases hope their team walks away victorious. Win, lose, or
draw - I am confident that fans from the U and the Y will more than get their
money's worth out of this year's game. Here's to the stellar
battle that will surely take place on Sept. 21st!Go Utes!

don't get Utah fans disparaging BYU's likely bowl destination (the
Kraft Fight Hunger bowl). After all, isn't that bowl destination a
"best case scenario" for the Utes this season? At this
point in the season it is still possible but unlikely that either BYU and/or
Utah will play in a BCS bowl(s). It is much more likely that each team finishes
with at least three losses. That means BYU will play in the Kraft bowl. If the
Utes exceed most analysts projections (3-4 wins) they MIGHT make it to the Kraft

also possible BYU plays for a National title this season. Not likely, but

I'm pretty sure everyone saw the Utah-USU game on Fox Sports 1 and no one

still brings in more money with the Pac 12 TV deal.

jeru0455"You do realize that if BYU played our schedule the last
two years, they would have done a lot worse right?"You have
absolutely NO PROOF that BYU would have done worse against Utah's schedule
than Utah did. Unlike Kyle, Bronco has never lost to a conference
bottom-dwelling 10-loss team like UNLV or Colorado. Bronco was undefeated
against MWC bottom-dwellers UNLV, UNM, CSU and Wyo. Kyle lost to all of them,
some of them more than once. And then there's this: Bronco beat
#16/#17 Utah State last year; Kyle lost to Utah StateSo, we have
hard evidence in at least one case, that Bronco would have done BETTER against
Utah's schedule than Kyle did.
I am a BYU fan.If my team had just lost 3 games in a row over the

@ DEW CougarsNo, the game WON'T STOP if it laps into Sunday.
You, my friend, are pretty young if you don't remember BYU playing one of
the inaugural games in the 80's at the Meadowslands and it started late
enough and lasted long enough that the game went into Sunday. Nobody quit
playing and forfeited the game.U partisans wish that the Y would
have to forfeit because that's likely the only way U will get a victory.I agree the time slot is not good, especially for anyone that needs to
be somewhere on Sunday morning and doesn't live in Utah County. But it is
what it is. I'd rather give up some sleep and watch Utah lose the game
because that would excite me enough I wouldn't be able to sleep anyway.

Re: Chris B.This was your best post of all-time..."Utah's rivalry games are later against USC, UCLA, and Colorado...
USC and UCLA don't consider San Diego a rival, but San Diego fans see it
that way. Power conference teams aren't rivals with non-power conference
teams. It's just that simple."So by your own admission Utah
does not belong in a "Power conference" because I guarantee you USC and
UCLA don't consider Utah a rival either (even if a few delusional Utah fans
see it that way). I personally love the "holy war" and
don't see it going away any time soon. Go Cougs!
@ Down UnderBYU will play Utah late night because the PAC 12 loves
the late night Pacific time zone market and ESPN caters to Utah some in that
regard. After the weather games back to back, BYU has played late
games the last two weeks. That could be another advantage for BYU. They already
have the bye week and the home field. The so called exposure you are
referring to was dropped with the weather at Virginia and gained against Texas.
That worked in BYU's favor because the positives were aired. I
love the late night games when they aren't many others on to compete with
the good games. The nation will see how intense this rivalry when both schools
seek exposure and exposing each other. With the break in the series and the
excitement both teams have now, this game in two weeks will be huge.Utah also has a big game this week (OSU) and every week from here on out
(Weber State tune up game gone). With all the advantages BYU has
this year (credit Holmoe with scheduling) it will be all the sweeter if Utah
comes in and tears down those walls.
@ Chris B - Salt Lake City, UT - "I've said all year if byu wins I wont

you would not post anything anti-BYU for the rest of your life.I've got your post saved on my Favorites tab. This is going to be
soooooo sweet!Go Cougars!
A few quick thoughts:I wish the game was earlier. A delay for any
reason will just about guarantee the 4th quarter will end on Sunday.
That's only happened to BYU once before to my knowledge.USC and
UCLA do indeed "know who Utah is" because they have to slice the PAC 12
Pie with them, which I am sure they think is a crummy deal. In their mind,
except for getting the conference to 12 teams, what does Utah bring to the
table? They invited Colorado before Utah. LOL!!WSU and Arizona know
who the Utes are as well, and they are happy because now Utah and Colorado will
fight for the basement and they can move up a step or two. Utah picked 5th,
Colorado 6th in the Southern Division. LOL!!U think U will go to the
Rose Bowl...ever? Look at Arizona for your future. LOL!!
@ Chris B - Salt Lake City, UT - "CORRECTION: byu's rivalry game will
be held then. Utah's rivalry games are later against USC, UCLA, and
Colorado."So BYU is n-o-t Utah's rival?Riiiiiiight.What planet are you from?And Fresno is a

"reality". Walk towards it.Go Cougars!

Ogden dude,Unless you are really young you would know what it is
like to be swept by your rivals. counting redshirt years and missionary years
RM's from uTAH never beat BYU. fans from uTAH use to count decades between
wins. It was so bad that a team once tried to tear down their rivals goalposts
after a victory.
Wally West,A scare? that's it? So USC had Utah come trick or
treating on their door step and said "boo" to the Trojans and now USC
knows that Utah is a threat? A scare? Seems some Ute fans don't give that
kind of leeway to BYU when BYU puts a "scare" against someone.
Let's be as you say "classy". Acknowledge that BYU put a
"scare" in Notre Dame last year who played for the national title.
Acknowledge that BYU put a "scare" into Utah and Boise State last year.
All you're admitting is that BYU and Utah are equal and even, except that
it seems that BYU has given a "scare" to more people last year than
Utah. Own up and admit that BYU and Utah are at least equal and start
capitalizing BYU in your posts like I capitalize Utah in mine. Start showing
respect and you might be surprised to get a lot in return.
So the UTES Bowl Game will be in September...They can Thank BYU for the
national Audience... and the loss

they are rivals with utah utes?"But, Notre Dame & Byu are
kindred spirits, legacy programs, & brothers in independence; right?

@86&90UTE.... that is kind of a silly question.... Right now, nobody knows
how good of a team BYU has. BYU did not play well and lost to a Virginia team
that isn't supposed to be very good. BYU played great and beat a Texas
team when they were expected to lose. Everyone knows that Texas should have
better players so of course Texas still gets the benefit of the doubt for being
the better team that had a lousy game.... BYU needs to win a few more games
before they will be taken seriously as a top 25 team.
Spokane Ute"The Texas game made your season..." Beating the Longhorns is a nice start, but unlike the BYU game made your

One game does not make a season? Yeah, right. The Texas game made your season,

86&90UTESportsFan already answered your question.
Question for BYU fans. Why, after BYU thoroughly beat Texas, does both the AP
poll and the coaches poll have a 1-1 Texas team higher than a 1-1 BYU team?
Apparently the sports writers and coaches still think Texas is the better team.
And yes I know that BYU is currently receiving more votes than Utah.
@Reno Cougs Fan 68 I wish we could have more Y fans such as
yourself. Absolutely nobody can predict what will happen Sept 21st. As far as
people saying "Utah hasn't really been tested yet", I somewhat
agree, but USU will be a good team this year and BYU still has to play them.
I'm more excited and concerned for PAC 12 play than playing BYU. And BYU
hasn't been tested yet either...IMO. I'm glad they beat Texas. All my
in-laws, most of my neighbors and co-workers are Y fans, and they all laughed
when I said BYU would beat Texas. BYU is much better than at Virginia, and I was
really shocked when they entered the polls at all, let alone at 15. May the best
team win come Sept 21st.Go Utes!!
I'm tired of all the comments twisting KVN's comment. He said,
"This is like the Super Bowl . . . It is plain and simple: I want to beat
them. They don’t like us, and we don’t like them, and that’s
OK."Don't twist the comment to be more than it is.
There's nothing about this being BYU's Super Bowl. Teams in the Super
Bowl give it their all. KVN is saying that both teams will come out and give it
their all.I want to win also, but I'd rather go 10-2 with a
loss to the Utes than go 5-7 and beat U and sit home in December like U did last
year. The season is more important than 1 game.If BYU is not your
rival, and USC, UCLA and Colorado are your rivals; can U explain why there is
not a single Ute comment in the LA Times or Denver Post? And there are
100's of Ute comments from Ute fans about the Cougs in a few BYU articles
in the DNews?
@ jeru0455:Well, son of Salem (or whatever your name is)...ESPN does love BYU enough to have given them an 8 year contract to play on
national TV almost every week of every football season for that entire time. To
any objective person, that says there is a lot of love there. Your assertion
smacks of jealousy. And yes, they are actually playing more
nationally televised games than Boise or Utah... probably combined. Check your
numbers and facts before getting too far out on a tangent and making yourself
look more jealous than informed.
jeru0455Utah fans are still having trouble with one very simple
concept - one game does not a season make.Win the rivalry game AND
finish with a better record AND finish with a higher ranking, then, and only
then, can you claim you were better.Otherwise, the only thing you
won was one-game bragging rights. You won the battle, but lost the
war.How does any fan base that has finished BEHIND their rival in
record and ranking in 5 of the last 8 seasons crow about being better simply
because they got lucky winning a couple of toss ups?
The only thing that sucks about this rivalry is that the Utes could win by 40+
(like in 2011) and the Cougs will still be talking smack and acting like the
rooster in the hen house. Their perception of themselves seems to have no
correlation to reality. It's like if they lose, they just assume that was
somehow a bad dream and in reality the Cougs won. How does any fan base that has
gone 0-3 against a team crow this much? It doesn't make sense.
BYU fans are acting like ESPN loves them so much and views Utah as some nothing
of a program. Riiiggghhhttttt... Look at how many games you have on ESPN 2. Then
look at how many games Boise has on ESPN. You guys need to wake up.
@ Big J:This shouldn't be news to you, but apparently is...All teams get down after a loss, especially one that should've won.All teams get up after a win, especially one they were considered the
underdog. And so yes, BYU fans have been on a roller-coaster ride so far
this year. But that's bipolar. It's called going along with the ups
and downs of the game. You'll better understand that after Utah's big
loss in 2 weeks after a few nice wins. Your jealousy is starting to
show over the enviable ESPN contract BYU has with them. Your tune would be
completely different if it was Utah who had that contract and played on a
national stage week after week. How are you "seeing" so much
after just 2 weeks? Utah won a game at home that they statistically lost and
then dominated over a junior college team. BYU played in a monsoon on the other
side of the country and lost it with dumb play calling after statistically
dominating the game. Then they utterly dominated the 15th ranked team in the
country just before they play Utah. That is substance, not hype!
Big J"The game is at 8:15 PM because that is when BYU always
plays because they are ESPN’s..."So how do you explain the
game in RES starting at 8:00 PM on ESPN2 last season? Is Utah's
big boy conference, PAC 12ness only worth a measly 15-minute earlier start
time?Looking forward to seeing the stunned looks of disbelief on the
faces of Ute nation on the 21st.LOL!
Big J -- BYU is ESPN's ditch? That doesn't make sense. Anyway,
it's funny how ute fans speculate on how BYU fans think, feel, etc. Nobody
was wanting Bronco's head, sure the game sucked but as a coug fan most of
us thought it was just that, a loss. They are playing late because they are a
west coast team, if you have been watching all pac 11 teams they mostly play at
night. What time was USC v. Washington State game? But since you are close
follower of college football I guess we'll just have to take YOUR word for
it. RISE UP GO COUGS!!!
It is amazing how stupid so many of these comments are. Both teams are mediocre
year in and year out they are average at best. A fan can argue either point well
Utah beat Alabama or BYU won a national title both are irrelevant. Both are
mediocre, BYU has gotten more publicity this year because they beat Texas. Utah
got it when they beat Alabama. Both teams are pretty much equal. As an outsider
BYU will always carry bigger weight because they are unique, they are
independent and play all over the nation so people see them, but still am
average team. Utah is a bottom feeder in a big conference I would compare Utah
to Vanderbilt. So go ahead fans brag to one another. I am independent average or
I am a PAC12 loser. Either way your status in college football is compared to
Vanderbilt for Utah and Boise State for BYU. Neither of you mean much in the big
picture. (Average teams can have great years Utah 2008 BYU 1984)
@Chris B's MommaGet off your high horse, Utah had one year they
didn't get to a bowl game. We will be back this year.
Go pac 12
@ sheriffcreg:It's also amusing and somewhat perplexing to see
someone tell someone else how they themselves believe instead of letting those
others speak for themselves. Don't let an oddball fan determine or speak
for an entire fan base. Thankfully, BYU fans are smart enough to realize that
Chris B doesn't speak for most of the Ute fan base. I truly believe
that most of us BYU fans do NOT believe as you say. We, like Utah fans, like to
think we're better than our opponents. But we're not naive enough to
believe we're "far and away the superior team". You're just
saying such a thing to justify your negative feelings toward BYU Also, it's pretty much a given that the Utah coaches are looking at and
preparing for BYU differently after seeing the Texas game. As well they should.
They would be dumb not to care.
I’m getting dizzy by all the BYU bipolar behavior. Before the season they
were the best team in the state. After a miserable loss to a terrible team they
want Bronco’s head. After a real nice upset there back to being the best.
You fans need to get a grip. The game is at 8:15 PM because that is
when BYU always plays because they are ESPN’s, rhymes with witch. After two weeks in the season I see an improved Utah team and a BYU team that
looks just like last year’s team. With that said, why would any of you
think this year’s game is going to end any different than the last
three? All that ever comes out of the “blue bubble” is
hype with no substance.Go Utes!
I don't care about the football game. All I care about is the pac 12
stickers on my vehicle. Right now I have 11 pac 12 stickers. And waiting for 5
more pac 12 stickers in the mail. I love the pac 12. I think the pac 12 rules!!!
Chris B --- What planet are you living on? You really think USC or UCLA thinks
they are rivals with utah utes? That is probably one of the dumbest things that
you have ever said. Sure you can take colorado as a rival. They are one of the
worst teams in all the power conferences. USC and UCLA couldn't care less
about the utes of utah.
I am just glad we will soon have the game on the field and off the message
boards!!! I will be rooting for my Cougs but hope that Utah plays well and
nobody gets hurt on either side!!! I think it is going to be another Holy War
for the ages and record book!!! Utah is playing well but has not been really
tested yet and BYU righted their ship when they had to!!! Good luck to Utah
against OSU and see you in Provo Sept. 21st.!!!Go Cougs!!!
for the uts this will be their bowl game just like in so many years in the
past...back to their future
Every year, BYU fans believe they are far and away the superior team, and are
shocked beyond reason when Utah even makes a game out of it (Much less, wins
it). Until BYU starts viewing Utah as their equals, rather than some team they
scoff at as their little-brother program (Which hasn't been true for at
least 20 years now), they are going to continue getting beat more often than
not. Texas came into Provo thinking they would roll away with a 3 TD
win, and BYU got up for the game and shocked them. Utah will not be making the
same mistake. Utah does not underestimate BYU, and has not lost by more than a
touchdown for over 20 years. BYU fans had better hope that BYU is not riding too
high after their big Texas win, because Utah is not going to care.
Taysom Hill completed 64.3 percent of his passes for 2,269 yards and 18
touchdowns as a high school senior. He also rushed for 1,491 yards and 24
touchdowns.Travis Wilson completed 62 percent of his passes for
2,289 yards and 24 touchdowns as a high school senior. He also rushed for 467
yards and nine touchdowns.Don't worry, Taysom will get his
passing touch back, and when he does, he's going to be a very dangerous
@All Ute Fans Everywhere. I will be "jealous" of Utah's Pac-12
membership and Elite status in college football when they actually win. Right
now they are no better off than BYU or any other non power conference team.
There is no way they are going to beat out Stanford or Oregon for the Rose
Bowl/National Championship spot. Until they can prove they belong on the field
with the Elites of college football I won't feel a shred of jealousy or
insecurity for where BYU is at. This is going to be a great game. Can't
wait to see it!
Jenny"Travis Wilson is #8 ranked player in pass efficiency and
can also run... Hill is ranked 122 and can only run."Taysom Hill
is ranked #5 in rushing and will improve dramatically in his passing... Travis
Wilson is ranked 147 in rushing.
A night game on the Duce; looking forward to it. Texas was so embarassed by
Saturday's performance that they fired their Defensive Coordinator.
Speaking of which, who's on the hotter hot seat; Mack Brown or Lane Kiffin?
I'm thinking Kiff, but not by much.
@ Chris B:I'll set you straight as to why Utah is moving away
from playing certain other in-state schools. And yes, USU and BYU fans are
starting to understand it. Apparently, everyone is, but you.Utah got
outplayed by USU for the second year in a row last week. It's
understandable why Kyle is nervous about and doesn't want to play them very
often. He takes a lot of heat whenever USU beats the U, and the kitchen has been
getting very hot. BYU will be walking away after pulling away from
Utah in their game in 2 weeks. Kyle knows that 2 of his last 3 wins over the Y
were razor thin and the balance is past due to be shifted back to the Y.
Everyone who knows anything about college football can understand why the U
dropped the Y from their schedule for the next few years. It will take that long
for the U players to regenerate their moral after the solid defeat they suffer
in 2 weeks. But at least the U is still willing to play Weber. And
maybe can add Southern Utah and/or Dixie to their schedule.
BYU better find a passing game in two weeks or they are toast.
ChristinaYou made the exact same promise before the BYU-SDSU
basketball a couple of years ago, then broke that promise.Guaranteed, even after BYU beats Utah on the 21st, there will be literally
hundreds of posts by you (under a different name) between August 22, 2013 and
August 21, 2014.You know it; and so does everyone else on this blog.
C'mon BYU, let's put those Utes in their place!
@ Chris B:I highly doubt that USC and UCLA consider the U to be a
"rival" but keep dreaming! Can't wait for your 2 year break from
Wow, the arrogance of Chris B is laughable! Wanting Colorado as a rival? HA!
Fresno State more respected nationally than BYU? HA!
This will be the second BYU game in a row that you've completely misread
the tea leaves. Too bad you've promised to disappear for a year after the
loss, because that will allow you to run away and hide instead of having to eat
your crow in public.Of course, we all know that's a pie crust
promise, because you'll be back within a couple days posting under another
one of your dozens of aliases.
Trash talk about being on national TV? Really? Too many blue fans showing their
insecurity about being "not as good as the joneses".This
should be a good game and is BYUs best chance to beat the utes over the last
half decade. But Utah has still won three in a row. BYU had a knack for silly
mistakes and emotionally driven penalties that end up sinking their chances of a
win. (And to address why BYU is a national brand...newsflash-
it's because of the schools affiliation with a religion and very little to
do with their football program)
Don't agree with KVN that it is the superbowl for BYU, but it should be a
great game to watch, always a lot of emotion and difficult to predict the
winner, Go Cougars!
I've said all year if byu wins I wont post on byu articles all year.I made the same promise last yearAnd the year beforeAnd the year beforeI posted last yearand the
year beforeand the year beforeAnd I'll be posting
this year, just to rub it in!Go UTES
Kyle Van Noy says this is byU's "Super Bowl". LOL!! So much for
the TDS instance that this game doesn't matter that much! Little brothers
are so humorous!!This will be a fun game. Utah will stretch the
current streak to 4-0. byU laid ALL it's offensive cards on the table
against highly over rated Texas. EVERYBODY now is 100% certain that hill
can't pass if his life depended on it - it's not just "the
rain". Contain the corners and byU has no offense. Plus, byU's
corners have yet to be tested. It will be a career day for Wilson and
Drez/Fitsgerald/Dunham/Tonga/Murphy, et al. It will be fun for Schultz and
Radley to get significant playing time in the second half too.Uncle
Rico - Van Noy has played against Utah three years now and that is the best
highlight you can come up with? LOL!! Van Noy decleated a guy on a kick-off!
WOW! I seem to recall also Van Noy "decleating" a punter once, after
the play was over, when his back was turned. Go Utes! Onward and
byu and usu fans should be recognizing now why Utah is moving away from playing
Utah teams: We're better than you. It's not
considered a "good win" when we beat you. No respect for Utah after we
beat USU and look what the national media did to texas after losing to byu.Our Fresno series is better as they have as much if not more national
respect than byu and usu and they are in a key recruiting area.To
all byu, usu, weber, and suu fans:You can now all continue to build
up your rivalries for the chance to say:"We're the second
best team/program in the state"LOL
@Jenny 83 Kyle Van Noy and the rest of the D will be the great equalizer here.
Hill may have struggles passing but can do well enough to keep Utah honest. He
isn't entirely one dimensional as you claim. He also doesn't make
stupid mistakes. We will see how efficient Wilson is with KVN in his face all
CORRECTION:byu's rivalry game will be held then.Utah's rivalry games are later against USC, UCLA, and Colorado.Hopefully byu and usu fans are beginning to realize why we are not your
rivals. We are better than you.USC and UCLA don't
consider San Diego a rival, but San Diego fans see it that way.Power
conference teams aren't rivals with non-power conference teams. It's just that simpleThere are no great rivalries in the
entire nation that involve 1 power conference team and 1 non -power conference
team.Power conference teams(Utah) are better than non-power
conference teams(usu, byu)
With very few exceptions, this matchup is always a good one... with tough,
hard-fought battles. More times than not, it usually comes down to the last
possession. It won't be surprising it that happens again this year with
both teams currently playing really well.
We are so humbled and grateful that BYU has allowed Utah the opportunity to play
in the same building and be seen by the millions and millions of followers.
I'm surprised the NCAA even allows us to play you. Your superiority should
at least be recognized by only matching up with national championship hopefuls
or NFL teams weekly, right? Hahaha. If BYU was truly a national
brand and loved by so many, it wouldn't matter who they played. They would
all be primetime games on ESPN. Keep thinking you're extra special. It
always makes for a good laugh. GO UTES!
Get ready for beat down part 4!! Hilarious that it's just another game for
the Utes but Van Noy's super bowl!! Sorry little bro but you will finish
your career 0-4 vs. big brother.
Be honest byu fans:How embarrassing will it be to lose to your
rivals FOUR years in a row?LOL!I love being better than
everyone else in the state!
Why did KVN and Hoffman return for their senior seasons? They wanted
to know what it feels like to beat their rivals.Too bad they STILL
won't know!Go UTES>---->
Ute fans talk about how great their QB is after the Weber State game. Don't
forget that even Riley Nelson looked decent against the Wildcats last year.
This will be the SECDOND time in the last 15 years Utah has gone 4-0 against
byU.Do you know how far back you have to go to find the last 2 times
byu beat Utah 4 times in a row?Far.Very far.Very very far.LOL
SWEEP for 2013 seniors!
Hope BYU crushes the U into the 2 year break! Go Cougars!
I'd like to call on all BYU fans to follow the old coaching cliche and take
this season one game at a time. The Cougars this year are probably better than
they showed against Virginia but are not as good as they looked against Texas.
Concentrating on beating Utah is a good thing. It's a big game and
it's also the next game. Just because we stomped Texas, doesn't mean
we will do the same to Utah or any other team. We now have reason to be
hopeful, even optimistic but let's not make ourselves look silly by getting
ahead of ourselves. There's still a lot of work to be done and it's
nice to have the extra week to prepare. It should certainly help Jamaal's
back. Now, BEAT those UTES and Go Coug's!!
Remember last year vs. Utah when Van Noy decleated that Utah lineman on the
kick-return?Can't wait for this game. Texas done, Utah.. your next!
Real Blue... Travis Wilson is #8 ranked player in pass efficiency and can also
run... Hill is ranked 122 and can only run. Good luck with the big game but Utah
takes this one!
Go Cougs! Should be a good game.
Should be a fun game. I don't really understand the TV exposure smack as
both teams are routinely nationally televised, but unto each his own I suppose.
Should be a good game, BYU has an extra week to prepare for Utah and Utah is
already looking much much better then last year in pretty much every position.
First Utah has got to take care of the Beavers so good luck in practice this
week and on Saturday Utes.Go Utes!!!
I would rather take the late start then be on ESPNU. Just hope we don't
have another rain delay or goes into overtime. This will be a fun game, I agree
it will most likely be a very close game. Go BYU.
Can't wait to beat the utes. In the words of Kyle Van Awesome,
"It's goinna to be a blood bath". The Cougs are hungry and the utes
are on the menu. Rise Up, Go BLUE!!
ESPN is punishing BYU for playing Utah. Nobody wants to see Utah play so they
put it on late night. I can't wait to get back to playing national name
brands and get back to ESPN primetime.
I hate to say it but downunder is right. Utah is not a national brand even
being in the PAC. I'll say it, I am worried for Sept. 21st.
At least Utah finally gets to play on national TV. I guess when you are a
national brand like BYU you get to play each week. ESPN decided that since Utah
is not a national brand they would put it on late night. If BYU would have been
playing someone more interesting they would have made it prime time.
What game is on ESPN? Betcha it wont be better than this game. Mad about the
late start, but what can you do?
Crappy late games. You have to credit the ESPN2 appearance to Utah's
winning ways and BYU's beatdown of Texas, otherwise this would have hit
