Chris B, I'm a Ute fan, but you're embarrassing. It took a trick play
to beat USU, who outplayed Utah in every category. I think it'd be best for
everyone if you'd attempt to join the real world.
@JohninSLCIt's called selective memory. It's already
happened this year in regard to the Viginia game; and it's happened the
last 3 years regarding the Utah game. Consider the source when it comes to Down
"Load up on patsies, at home"Down:Hahaha!
That's hilarious coming from a hypocritical y "fan", who
conveniently forgets that your team played Weber last year and has loaded up on
patsies every year since the grand indy experiment. Either that, or
Middle Tennessee State, Central Forida, Idaho State (twice), New Mexico State
(twice), Idaho (twice) and Hawaii (twice) are all thought of as powerhouses Down
I see a pattern in Utah scheduling. Load up on patsies, at home, to put on a
false impression of how good you really are. The same is happening in
basketball. If Utah ever wants to be the national brand that BYU is they need
to step up in their scheduling and actually play some tougher teams in weeks one
and two. Playing WSU does nothing for the program, in fact is will hurt them
when they play OSU his week.GO BEAVERS and pound the utes. (and I
am not even a OSU fan)
"Frozen ChosenSavage, MNUtah fans are soiling themselves after
BYU rushes for 550 yds against TEXAS!!! BYU has two weeks to prepare for the
Utes defense. You thought Chuckie Keeton gave you nightmares - you'll be
seeing Taysom Hill running over you every time you close your eyes!"Taysom is a joke compared to Chuckie, because chuckie is a REAL dual
threat QB. 650+ yards passing and 100+ yards running.Taysom
couldn't throw a football to save his life, Utah always, every year, has a
good rushing defense. We play Utah D, single man coverage because you have zero
passing attack like the Utes last year.Good Luck, you're going
to need it. Extra weeks aren't always an advantage, more time to prepare
but players also get cold.
Classic $400,000 check comments. Very classy indeed. LOL
You think your so great that you scored 70 on WEBER STATE, Bingham .high
school would have given u a better game. Weber State WHOOPDY DOO U should all
be very proud of beating up a glorified high school team.
Here's the deal bruised ego Weber fans. Utah took out the starters after
the first half. I have know doubt, the way the Utes were scoring with ease,
Utah could have laid a 100 points on Weber had they desired to do so. The
second half the Utes hardly threw a pass; just basically tried to run out the
clock with the same running play over and over, with goal of making the final
score more merciful towards Weber. Face it, once the Utes got going, Weber
could not stop them. Who's fault is that?
@forgetful gary1980 BYU 83 UTEP 7No Problem!
8Travis Wilson, QBUTAH314766.056612.080503202.2 Wilson is ranked 8th
in the nation in QB rating!
Wilson has the #8 best Quarterback rating in the nation right now! :)
@Frozen YogurtBack to comparing Hill with Keeton? At a
33% completion rate it's obvious Hill can't throw. Tebow-lite has
more interceptions than passing touchdowns. Hill is ranked #122 in
the nation, out of 123 ranked QBs by ESPN. I don't want you to
"soil-yourself" so I won't tell you what Wilson and Keeton
ranked. Please take the 2 weeks to teach him how to throw.
Who did the Utes play? A high school team? That's what it looked like.
I love all the new excitement from the Y fans now that they beat an obviously
over-hyped Texas team. A big win no doubt, but I love how they think that one
game will carry them through the season. Hill is one of the worst passers in D1
ball. Contain the run, make him throw and our DB's will have no less than 4
picks. No way, will the Y beat us by more than 3 points, and I'm thinking
their big heads will get the best of them, and we'll come home with the W.
I'm glad they have an extra week to stew on us, the stupor from beating
Texas will have worn off, and they will be facing reality again. I know on paper
it favors the Y, but I don't think they can handle the heat of facing the
possibility of losing 4 straight to the Pac 10.2 cellar dwellers (as so many of
them call us). Utah by 5!
Utah fans...go ahead and beat your chest over your win against a small school
like Weber. Pac 12 games are coming and my sense is that it aint going to be
purdy for those classy Utes. The DN removed my earlier post...must
have hurt a Ute fan's feelings. Wow, I didn't know their feelings were
You have to be impressed with how Utah handled themselves in the game. The
results were terrific. Utah should be rated at least in the top five. What a
"No class utes, going for it on 4th down up what 49 points."Mikey:Which they DIDN'T get by telegraphing a slow motion
dive up the middle. The alternative was an easy field goal, a 73-7 final and
ners complaints that "no-class Utah kicked a field goal up by 49!"Play defense.
bullriver"With Oregon State looking vulnerable last week and BYU
looking simply pathetic, we should be 4-0 and in the top 25 by the time we mop
up with BYU."Chris B"After we finish off byu, it
should be obvious to everyone in Utah why we are moving away from playing other
Utah teams. We are simply a step above all other Utah programs."These comments after winning a game you were supposed to win big in the first
place. That's just classic right there! And yet over on the BYU
article you have TomohawkRed advising BYU fans about getting too cocky after
thumping a 5 star recruit laden power conference team in the Longhorns.
@Frozen Chosen "Utah fans are soiling themselves after BYU rushes for 550
yds against TEXAS!!! BYU has two weeks to prepare for the Utes defense."Laughing out loud. Utah has the season opener with Oregon State on
Saturday. This is for conference position. Saturday's game counts and
should be our only focus right now. The BYU game is for fun only.Everyone that knows anything about football knows that Utah would take a win
over Oregon State and a loss at BYU than the other way around. Nobody is
"soiling themselves" over BYU.
@frozenchosenYep, he sure lit up Virginia. Notice how selective
@ BigSkies and GoodGuyGaryUtah had a grand total five passing plays in the
second half by their second string QB no less. The only reason that Schulz
played all of the second half was that they are trying to save both freshman
QB's. Utah didn't attempt a single field goal in the game. They rushed
the ball 38 times in the game trying to run out the clock out and keep the score
down. Their leading rusher was a third string player as were many of the lineman
and other players. Many of the starters didn't even have a play called to
them in the entire second half if they even got to play in the second half.Is
this the mark of an up tempo, fast paced offence trying to run up the score?
What does a coach do? Tell his back up players that will seldom get a chance to
play not to score? These young men have worked hard all through spring and fall
camps just to get a chance to play. So when they do should the coaches now tell
them not to give it 100%.
There is no game more important than Oregon State.Congratulations on
win number two.Go Utes!
Nice win Utes, these can be trap games. As for Chris B, and I quote "After
we finish off byu, it should be obvious to everyone in Utah why we are moving
away from playing other Utah teams. We are simply a step above all
other Utah programs."You mean like Texas?
Frozen Chosen,BYU also lost to Virginia, a team that got blown out 59-10
by Oregon at home, Taysom Hill can't throw a ball to save his life and Utah
has a much better defensive front than Texas.
No class utes, going for it on 4th down up what 49 points. Open up the wound and
pour a little salt in it. BYU 42 Utes 17 right it down Chrissy...
Frozen Chosen,First of all, you'll find by the end of the year
that Texas is not all that.Secondly, we Ute fans absolutely are
shakin in our boots at the thought of the one dimensional running cougars. You
better start hoping Hill can pass for 550 yards because Utah will be more than
prepared to shut down the cougar run game and will force Hill to complete a
pass.Good luck with that bye week ... they'll need all the
practice they can get.
Utah fans are soiling themselves after BYU rushes for 550 yds against TEXAS!!!
BYU has two weeks to prepare for the Utes defense. You thought Chuckie Keeton
gave you nightmares - you'll be seeing Taysom Hill running over you every
time you close your eyes!
I think Weber State is suggesting that on every first down when we get the ball
that we punt. To make the game more fair and fun for everyone, just like flag
football, everyone gets a trophy.
Did anybody actually watch this "Game"?
Weber State Graduate, GoodGuyGary, BigSkies & mohokatBe thankful
for the check going to your school and forget the rest of it. I get
that it can't be enjoyable to watch your team lose like that. And I even
get how you may feel like Utah was running up the score. But as others have
already said, it was actually quite the opposite. On top of that, Utah was
playing mainly third and even fourth stringers at the end. They were in fact
running their FIFTH string running back on the fourth down you mentioned -
that's not an exaggeration.Another reason to let the 63 point
loss go ... when an FBS team plays an FCS team it pretty much has to drill that
team to get any respect. It happens all over the country. It's lame, we all
get that. The best thing about FCS football is that you guys don't have to
worry about votes, the best teams get to settle it on the field with a proper
sized playoff system. Until the FBS has that, expect to see more 70-7 scores
across the country.
"Running up score"Gary:"Play defense."
Hey, where's that BYU fans who told me earlier in the week to "mark it
down" that Weber would win 42-14? Where's he at today?Probably floating on a raft at the BYU game...
@cpafredTotally, totally agree!A win is a win!
Hey Weber fans were you @ the game? We played our 3rd and 4th strings and ran
and ran and ran the ball! I don't what else we could of done! The 4th down
would have given you great field position if your defense would have shown up!!!
That was not running up the score. Starters did not play in second half.
Schulz was allowed to pass very few times. What did you want Whit to do, tell
Radley to take a knee if he was about to break a big run?,
I echo the comment from Two For Flinching. Sour grapes from those that
don't know much about how football is played. Watch an early season Oregon
game if you want to see how to run up the score. @WeberStateGrad - if you
don't want to see scores like this, tell your team to stay at their own
level. No one complained about the $400K they earned fro the game and they want
to schedule the Utes again. It's been a long time but both Utah and USU
used to do the same thing with schools like Nebraska every year - go to Lincoln,
get destroyed, collect the paycheck, and go home. If you defense could tackle
we wouldn't have multiple big yardage plays that ended in scores.
This was really impressive when compared to last years win over North Colorado.
The offense seems to have improved. So far in two games I am
impressed with Wilson and his ability to make big plays. Something we lacked
last year, regardless of the opponent.Side Note: The Aggies looked
good today at AF, CK is playing like a Heisman candidate.Go UTES!!
@BigSkies, Weber GraduateRBN pretty much nailed it. What did you
expect Utah to do? They were in Weber State territory on the possession you are
referring to. If they kick a field goal, then they are accused by people like
you of piling it on. So they continue running the ball. Problem is, Weber
wasn't good enough to stop Utah's 3rd and 4th stringers.So
quit whining! You got beat, but picked up a $400,000 check in the process.
That will help your team's program, and the W and the accompanying momentum
will help Utah as they prepare for Oregon State next week.
Anybody who thinks Utah ran up the score doesn't know anything about
football. Instead of taking (almost) guaranteed points with a FG, Utah ran very
basic hand-off plays (with no starters in) straight up the middle in the A or B
gap. It gives Weber a chance to stop Utah. It was the classy thing to do.
@ Chris BAs a Utah fan, I wish you would just give it a rest. If
your goal is to make everybody in the world hate us, you are doing a great job.
@BigSkiesBe grateful that Whitingham likes Weber....otherwise he
would have gone for an on side kick like he did with Wyoming.
@BigSkiesUtah wasn't trying to run up the score when they ran it on
that 4th down. If you noticed they did it the series before instead of kicking
a field goal when they were well within range which they didn't convert.
Coach Whittingham was trying to run out the clock. The Utes just happened to
break another big run after and get in the endzone. Nothing classless about
that play. Hope Weber has a solid rest of the season.Go Utes!!!
Yes, Chris you will be rank ed. As for the Utes I seriously doubt it.
Utah wins! Utah covers$$$...Again! Also, take Texas to cover against BYU. Easy
ChrissyPlease get a job and a life
@Big SkiesDid you want them to punt? Nope, couldn't do that
as they were in WSU territory. Did you want them to kick a field goal and add
more points? Can't do that. It's poor sportsmanship. Put in the
fourth stringers? Nope, gotta save some redshirts. The Utes do what
all teams do. They run basic plays and leave it to the other team to stop them.
Running up score at 63-7, now that is very classy!
Big sky champs.
re: BigskiesIf this were 30 yrs ago in Provo, this would be par for
the course.re: Chris B earlier today7-5 is far more
realistic, obtainable, practical.
8-4 or 9-3 season is coming, I've called it since day 1.After
beating byu we'll be 4-0 and RANKED.Go UTES!
After we finish off byu, it should be obvious to everyone in Utah why we are
moving away from playing other Utah teams. We are simply a step above
all other Utah programs.Besides, power conference teams just dont
have significant rivalries with non power conference teams. Its
better that we go play teams from Texas and California(see series with Fresno)
for our recruiting and exposure.Beating up on lower programs like
usu, byu, weber, and suu just doesn't do anything for us.
Way to clean things up over last week's performance. Granted, it was Weber
State, but 70-7 is exactly what we needed to do to them. I would be concerned if
it had been less than a seven touchdown win. With Oregon State looking
vulnerable last week and BYU looking simply pathetic, we should be 4-0 and in
the top 25 by the time we mop up with BYU. The offense looked much better. It
was nice to give the 2's and 3's some significant game experience,
especially Adam Schultz. GO UTES!
Travis Wilson's accuracy was amazing. Offense has new life compared to last
year and Travis is looking better than Wynn in his sophomore year. Could be some
exciting games.Second real test coming next week.Go
Good game; we did what we needed to do. The competition only ramps up from here
but it's nice to have a little momentum.
Utes up 63-7, and they go for it on 4th down. Now that's real class.
