Most of you are debating the wrong article. This article is about whether or not the things Romney predicted would happen in an Obama presidency are in fact happening. I think you could go back and look at his predictions and find out that he has a very high prophesy rating compared to most candidates in most elections. It is certainly much higher than Obama's prophesy rate of his own administration.

The discussion of what Romney would have done if he had been in office is a curiosity but nobody really knows. All we know is that he nailed it pretty darn well when he said what would happen under Obama.

@worf
"May our Obama voters get what they voted for."

Aww, that's so nice of you to say, especially when I'm pretty sure you disagree with most of the things we were voting for.

Romney would have been far worse. I continually thank God that he wasn't inflicted on the country.

It seems to me that this article is about nothing, other than sour grapes.
Its appearance here leave open the accusation that DN pleases some of its readers by giving them a chance to voice their same old complaints.

Rather than the Romney campaigner and some of the commenters berating the American public for somehow getting it wrong, due to being mesmerized by the evil Obama, perhaps they could employ the very useful habit of saying "Where did we go wrong?"
Mr Romney faced a very vulnerable candidate, but his own characteristics caused him to be thoroughly trounced in the Electoral College.

Where is the "How can we learn to help our country better?" in these comments?

@atl134:

You're right. I disagree, and take no responsibility for what's happening to this country.

For several reasons, I'm glad Mitt didn't win the election. This country must suffer some pain to regain its common sense.

Another trip down memory lane with Mitt Romney...no... make that a Mitt Romney surrogate.
There...all better...
No...wait there's more...
If Mitt had only paid attention to Nate Silver rather Dick Morris, Karl Rove and the rest of the foxnews echo chamber...
If voters could have been sure of which Romney they were voting for...
If Mitt had not allowed himself to be pushed so far to the right...
If Mitt had only listened to himself before running...
No...if Mitt had listened to himself...he would have never run...
We would miss these never ending tributes to the ineffectiveness of the well paid Romney Campaign...
I hope the DN continues to run these stories...
Forever.

Mitt must--secretly in his heart--just REJOICE EVERY DAY that he lost and doesn't have to deal with all these impossible-to-fix problems.

@atl134... similar to being a prophet huh?

@2bits I think about the campaign every single day, and what a shame it is who we have in the White House,” Spencer Zbitswick, who worked as Romney’s finance director and is a close friend to his family, told Buzzfeed.
This guy was like another son to Romney not "some random guy"

@ bungalow:

You could not be more wrong about Mitt Romney. You've spent way too much time listening to Obama campaign ads and not near enough time actually finding out who Mitt really is. His past services, both in public and in his private life have shown that Mitt both does understand and care about middle and lower-class Americans... regardless of what some sound-byte, taken completely out of context, sounded like.
Don't hold it against someone just because they've achieved high success in their life. Decisions based on jealousy are always bad. Unfortunately, that was a factor in how too many people voted last election.

You are also totally wrong about GOP "trickle-down" economic principles being shown to clearly not work. President Reagan proved beyond doubt that those economic principles do work. It's Obama's current economic ideas that have gotten us into the biggest financial mess this country has ever been in... ever! In just 5 years, Obama has increased our federal deficit by over 70%, with increases averaging over a trillion dollars a year. It's an amount that most people (and apparently you) can't actually wrap their minds around. Big trouble ahead!

Don't judge Romney based on your ignorance.

Romney people need to move on . All of the issues we face would have essentially been the same regardless. Romney lost, in part because of his poor leadership and inability to provide a vision. I saw nothing in him that would suggest he would have been better Nothing. .

I see from some of the preceeding comments that some of the misinformation and mis-characterizations circulated by the Obama campaign are still circulating. truth is, Obama's campaign was and his style of leadership still are examples of why so many people hate politics. Romney was a breath of fresh air. But, here we are, back in the smog.

Mitt was not a man of principles. NDAA, war, obamacare. First he was against Obamacare, now he's passionately for it.

Clydesdale

Oh here's a Mitt prophecy he was wrong about. In defense of Obama signing NDAA he said "Obama won't abuse that power" LOL Really? Ya don't think? Give me a break. Sorry, Mitt is not a great leader, and worse he's a horrible judge of character.

I can't imagine anyone being happy with the administration we have other than those in the administration or those receiving the handouts from the administration. The rest of the country is extremely disappointed.

A pro Romney, what if, Hindsight is always 20-20, pander to the base, fluff piece in the Deseret News.

What's next a forecast that the sun will rise tomorrow?

Pendergast,
A lot of people mocked Romney when he claimed Russia was the United States greatest geopolitical foe. That was not a hindsight comment and no one on the left wanted to believe it. But here we are...

Not Here...if you don't like it don't read it.

Anyone who speculates what would have happened if Mitt was elected is living in a fantasy world. Nothing on the scale talked about in these comments can be done by one man even if he is the POTUS. However, on man can make things things happen, particularly if he is the POTUS.
Obama has failed as a leader and because Mitt wasn't elected, no one can say he would have succeeded if they are to be truthful.
Obama failed in his first term, but the majority expected him to change without a reason so they should have known it wouldn't but they didn't.
Hopefully we have learned. Hopefully we won't continue down this road to distruction by re-electing those like Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid...the problems not the solutions in Washington.
We need new leadership; people who will listen to the majority of their constituents and work hard to find solutions to problems, not be the problems to the solutions.
