I was glad to hear that Bubba Poole never got into a rhythm last week because he actually looked pretty good. So if that's him playing poorly, I'm excited to see him reach his potential. 5 yards per carry plus Travis Wilson throwing the ball like he did against USU would go a long ways toward helping Utah climb the PAC-12 ladder.

Team will be hard to beat if they avg 5 yards a carry.

the team will not average 5 yards per carry this season... It's a great goal though.

Wilson is a beast of a quarterback... 6'7, 240... Thats just nuts compared to what we've had the last few years (wynn was a buck sixty when he came to utah).

RE: Goal line efficiency --- was looking at my DVR the other day & noticed that at least on 3rd down it appeared that if Williams had done a left jump cut he could have walked in, the hole was huge with fantastic blocks both left and right of the gap.

Instead ran into the pack & was stopped.

Same thing on several of York's runs --- run into the pack & be stopped.

Hopefully the team will be analyzing film & talk about jump cuts, spins, etc (Mr. Poole's specialities!!) and that 5 yard per carry goal just may happen very soon.

Why not run to daylight?

8-4 season and we have as good of a chance at South title as anyone.

usu is a good team and things will only improve after game 1. I liked what I saw considering it was our first game.

I've called it since day 1. 8-4 with all 4 losses coming against BCS schools.

Mark it Down.

I hope we can average 5 yards per rush against Weber State. I was concerned with the push from the offensive line we were seeing, and the push our defensive line was allowing (although they did pick it up in the 2nd half). In the first half USU seemed to get 4 or more yards every carry while we were picking up about 2. I'm hoping we clean that up and average about 4-5 yards a carry; that would make our offense very solid.

Wishful crimson thinking.

The Utes have ZERO, as in, absolutely NO, CHANCE of averaging 5-yards per rush.

In fact, Utah won't even average 4.0 yards/rush.

"Utah would like at least 5 yards per rush..."

LOL! Good luck with that.

The Utes have never even come close to averaging 5 yards/rush during the Bronco/Kyle era. In fact, since joining the PAC, the Utes haven't even managed 4 yards/rush.

Average BYU/Utah yards/rush during the Bronco/Kyle era

Year - BYU/Utah
2005 - 4.4/4.3
2006 - 4.2/4.0
2007 - 3.8/4.0
2008 - 4.1/4.1
2009 - 4.0/4.3
2010 - 4.2/4.6
2011 - 4.2/3.8
2012 - 3.9/3.6
2013 - 3.5/3.4 (after one game)

Looks like my little sister is having delusions of grandeur again.

"8-4 season and we have as good of a chance at South title as anyone"

LOL!

The only title we have a chance at is the pillow fight in the Rockies title to determine who gets to spend the long, cold winter in the PAC basement.

As far as rushing yardage goes, it's nice to "want", but the truth is, we couldn't average 5 yards per rush if our red-tailed pants were on fire.
