For once I'm in agreement with religious leaders.
Going to war is an extremely serious decision that should always be made very
carefully - perhaps much more carefully than some wars have been entered into.
That said, there are times when it is necessary and just. World War II was
necessary - no amount of talking with Hitler would have deterred him from his
crazed lust for power nor his delusions about justification for killing those he
thought were enemies of his state. It should also be noted that since a civil
war is already happening, the term "No more war" can't be realized
if the current state of affairs continues. None of this means I am
in favor of the U.S. getting involved in Syria. It is possible things could get
much worse for the Syrian people and especially for our own brave men and women
of the armed services. It is a very difficult and complicated situation.
I'm simply saying there are some situations where war is justified and it
doesn't appear that there is an acknowledgement of this fact in this very
brief report we have on this issue.
