There were many more positives than negatives I saw in the Utah game. Shore up some of those safeties and the pass protection over the middle (and the stupid penalties, of course), and we should be good to go for conference play.

Feeling good. Go Aggies!

It's not their first WAC 2.0 title. And I can't believe Sambone is complaining about "stupid penalties". He never used to complain about that.

Totally agreed. I think that Utah St will fare very well in the MWC. I could see them goint 8-4 or 9-3 this year. A very, very good team with an outstanding QB. I will be pulling for the Aggies the rest of the way; good luck!

A WAC 2.0 championship is laughable.

Did you see how the WAC 2.0 did week 1 against the prestigious Pac 12 conference?

Utah over WAC 2.0 nobody Utah State
USC over WAC 2.0 nobody Hawaii
UCLA over WAC 2.0 nobody Nevada
Colorado over WAC 2.0 nobody Colorado State
Washington dominated WAC 2.0 Boise State.

Pac 12 was 5-0 over WAC 2.0 teams

WAC 2.0 also had losses to Eastern Illinois and UTSA.

LOL

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

I LOVE that we left the MWC(now WAC 2.0) and joined the Pac 12.

The Pac 12 really should stop scheduling the WAC 2.0

Let's schedule other power conferences that can give us a challenge

I'll be watching. :D

- AFA is tough, disciplined, and smart. This will not be easy. I think the spread settles at -7 for USU by game time. (At -9.5 right now.)
- USU linebackers and safeties better not get confused on their assignments.
- USU linebackers and safeties better be good at open field tackles.
- I hope we sub in a lot of guys to keep us fresh. We have 2-3 very capable 2nd stringers at LB who should take a lot of snaps to keep everyone's legs fresh.
- I hope the offense makes sustained drives that chew up some clock time - again, to keep the defense rested.

I know AFA does the cut block (NOT chop block) so here's to an injury free game.

GO AGGIES!

@Christopher B

Oregon State lost to an FCS school last week too. Also- your Utes have STRUGGLED (and that's the nice way of saying it) in conference play. You should pray that they do continue to schedule "WAC 2.0" games. You're probably the guy who has a PAC 12 sticker on your back windshield...

They've never played AFA and it could be a harsh learning curve for the USU defense.
The MWC looked weak, especially BSU. Hopefully the Aggies can win the league.

Loud,

Yes, we've struggled against Pac 12 teams. And SEC teams have struggled against Alabama.

Are you suggesting aggies are content to be at the top of the WAC 2.0 and never have aspirations to be at the top of the country?

LOL!

Yes, it's tough playing tough teams. What's your point?

And you struggle against the teams that struggle against good teams.

So however "bad" we are, you're team is worse!

LOL

Christopher B,

I'm not saying that Aggie fans wouldn't love a chance to play in a Big 5 conference. They would! Any mid-major program would. My point about the Utes struggling against conference teams was meant to show you that your Utes are having the same problem that these Mountain West teams are having so you shouldn't really be putting yourself a cut-above anyone right now. Also- these "nobody" teams are not not irrelevant. Last year Boise State beat Washington, Utah State beat Utah, and Colorado State beat Colorado. You need to stop being too quick to judge teams in lesser-conferences. Especially when it is an in-state game. Anyone who feels over confident during an in-state game is a fool. Conference affiliation has nothing to do with competitiveness. Oregon State (PAC 12 and last week's #25 team) just lost to an FCS program. Cut the Mountain West some slack. I highly doubt that 5 years ago you were discussing how every team in the conference was a "nobody".

Chris B

Loud,

We ARE a cut above other teams. Absolutely we are.

Pac 12 teams are better than WAC 2.0 teams. Utah is better than the WAC 2.0 teams and that is why we were invited to the Pac 12 and the WAC 2.0 teams weren't.

You're very misinformed if you think conference affiliation has nothing to do with competitiveness.

Everyone agrees the SEC is the best conference. Top to bottom they are the best.

You think the 5-0 record of Pac 12 teams over WAC 2.0 teams had nothing to with the fact the Pac 12 teams are Pac 12 teams and the WAC 2.0 teams are WAC 2.0 teams?

LOL

Match up the best Pac 12 against best MWC, and go all the way down with the worst Pac 12 team playing the worst WAC 2.0 team. What would the results be?

Well, if 5-0 is any indication....

LOL

Yes, we ARE better than usu, byu, and the other WAC 2.0 teams!

If you've never played AFA, you don't know how tough they are to play. If USU couldn't play to the end last week, they are in for a brutal beating this week. AFA never quits, never! If you aren't used to getting pounded on by RB's, you're in for an awakening. 0-2 is a rough way to start the season, but that is how it is.

Chris,

Why do you have separate accounts? (i.e. Christopher B, Chris B, etc.?) You are not hearing me. I never said that the big 5 conferences are not the best or the most elite. They are. But every year there are multiple teams from those same AQ conferences that get beat by mid-majors. That brings me back to my point. You do not have to be in a big 5 conference to compete with BCS teams. That is the point I was demonstrating about how conference affiliation does not take away from the toughness and competitiveness of a team. Also- you never answered my question. Are you one of those Utah fans that has a red PAC 12 sticker on your windshield vs. an actual Utes sticker? LOL. Probably... I wonder if Oregon or Stanford fans rock PAC 12 stickers on their vehicles??

Loud Loiterer
Sandy, UT

Speaking of the SEC Chris, Utah in the PAC 12 is comparable to Kentucky in the SEC. You're sort of there but not exactly relevant. Like AT ALL. By the way- your prediction about the Utah vs. Utah State game (30-17) that you told EVERYONE to mark down... Way to be off by 9 points on the USU side. But that didn't stop you from gloating on Des-News immediately after the game claiming that you were right. Right about what? Utah scoring 30 points? You and Dennis Erickson should start a 30-point club together. I will enjoy watching the Utes have yet another losing season in their beloved PAC 12.

@ Loud Loiter

Just so you know....I'm a huge Utah fan and i think Chris B. is a joke. He probably is the type of fan that has a PAC-12 sticker. He cares more about the PAC-12 then the team itself. Fans like him are an embarrassment for the Utes

Mars_

Most Utah fans think Chris B is a joke.

He only embarrasses the Utes if you think all Utes are like him. If you think all Utes are like a loudmouth dude who camps out on comment sections for the Deseret News and makes sure you know his opinion on all subjects whether you asked for it or not, and whether he is qualified to give it or not, then you need to meet some more Ute fans.

Do not feed the trolls.

AggiePride

I went down to the game and enjoyed my interactions with 99% of Ute fans. They were great. Chris B. is an uneducated football fan that cares more about conference affiliation than his own team. Don't feed him, common sense and statistics matter nothing to him. Regarding this article, I am excited about the Air Force game. Last year I loved watching our defense, and against Utah they did pretty well stopping the run. Air Force will be tricky, but I think we get the job done and get one step closer to a Mountain West Conference Championship! Go Utes the rest of the season.
