Likely just an amusing reality show that will eventually fade away like all of the others.
Must continue on til, at least, after Halloween.
Perhaps it's most important message....

DD is my favorite show...about all I actually spend time watching on TV and about the only thing outside of ESPN that is worth watching. No swearing - no adult humor just down home 'funny' stuff from real people. Yes it is scripted but the unusual thing about DD and I believe why it is at THE TOP of the ratings is because it does model the love and respect that most 'real' families show toward one and other in America as well as their GOD. Husbands love and respect their wives and the kids reciprocate that same love and respect for their parents. Hunting is shown in it's TRUE light - a priceless family tradition where the game that is killed is used by the family. The nightly scene of family prayer and the dinner table is wonderful. What a contrast to the gutter trash Hollywood throws out there in 90% of the other programming. DD is basically ANTI-LIBERALISM and that is the best of all!!

Obviously Thornbirds has never seen Duck Dynasty. Since it is now in its 4th season with the highest ratings on cable it's not about to fade away any time soon. FYI, the stars of the show are college educated. That explains part of the reason why they have made $millions$ selling duck calls.

I love that real people are getting the money for shows. I am tired of "professionals" getting so much money and then they have such lousy values. I started to watch, not cause it appealed to me, but because I decided to support a show with values, I am hooked now and "Happy Happy Happy".

Yes respect. I kid my brother and my dad all the time and at the same time I never degrade them. You can have some fun with your family and laugh with them and at them all the while showing love and respect for them. At the end of every episode on DD they ALL sit at the family dinner table, have a prayer together and then enjoy a fun family dinner together. Where would America be today if every family did the same? Grandpa-grandma-mom-dad and the kids eating together. Wow - what a concept. Think about it for a minute, DD is EVERYTHING the left hates...

*Belief in God
*Father and Mother in the home
*Family dinners
*Hunting
*No dysfunctional family members

wow - this show has it all and that is why it is on top of the ratings with main stream Americans.

Ironic, considering Conservatives are more likely to pay of trash:

"Utahns, famous for their wholesomeness and frugality, buy online pornography at higher rates than the rest of America. That's the conclusion of a Harvard economics professor who tracked subscriptions to online porn sites." -- Deseret News

As far as Duck Dynasty, I like it. Even as a liberal.

I'm a fan of the show. The Christianity aspects do not feel forced or overly blatant, despite the fact that the main bearded duck-call ceo is a licensed evangelical preacher. What makes the show such a success is that it doesn't hide you from the oddball things families do, but rather accentuates those elements to make a zany experience in a setting that is hard to match. It doesn't hurt that their success making duck calls has landed a bunch of people not normally associated with money a fortune, a bit like the Beverly Hill Billies of today.

As I drove the family from my Mom's funeral to the airport to return home, one of my kids asked from the back seat, "Dad, are all your relatives Hillbillies?"

This show encourages me that there might just be hope for us yet....

Best show on TV! It is 180 degrees opposite of Hollywood, which is why it's awesome! Watch the "real" housewife show of any city you choose, and you'll hear language that you thought only sailors and truckers used (old analogies, my apologies to both) you'll see people drinking to excess, spouses flirting with others, and that's just the warm up. DD is wholesome, family entertainment. I was shocked the first time I watched and saw them pray at the end. I thought for sure some anti-religion group would boycott everything and try and get them taken off the air. I'm glad that A&E has the guts to stick with the design of the show and not try and mess it up. Watch Phil and Willie on Youtube. They are the real deal when it comes to preaching.

Never heard of it until this article.

"DD is EVERYTHING the left hates..."

I doubt it but... what's your list?

"*Belief in God"

Liberals have issues with people trying to impose religious rules on others, not with religion itself. Most liberals are religious.

"*Father and Mother in the home
*Family dinners"

Liberals like stable families... we hate shaming people who don't have that. There's a difference.

"*Hunting"

I'll give you that one.

"*No dysfunctional family members "

I don't even know how to interpret that one.
