Speaking of high school gyms, BYU has plenty of experience in that area. The funny thing is they haven't won at the Spectrum in 13 years. Losing in a high school gym must be really embarrassing for a such an elite team like BYU.

And here is my stocker also known as Aggie238. But for once we agree. The aggie fan base steps way over the line every time. Nice to see you on my side buddy.

Stango, Utah's cowardly lion of an AD balked at playing USU again and scheduled Cal State Northridge and Sacramento State instead because he thought the rundown Utes could win those games.

Utah lost both of those games last season.

And the Ags have won 3 out of the last 4 on the court against the rundown Utes.

    Way to go Aggies!

How hard is it to make a lot of noise in a glorified high school gym?

"Chris B's Utes are never scared to whip the aggies. Scheduling just doesn't work out sometimes."

LOL at the spin. Call us the next time the Utes are brave enough to venture into the Spectrum.

The Runnin' Utes of the past no longer exist; the rundown Utes are, at best, the 6th best team in the state behind BYU, USU, Weber St, UVU and SUU, and barely ahead of Dixie St, Westminster and SLCC.

Like it or not USU has a great student section! I love it and wish we were more into! Go UTES!

...Cont. I know I've only gone to five or six games total since that time, and it's because it's just not the same as it used to be. It doesn't help that we've struggled to win 20 games against crap teams. Losing to U of Denver on your home court isn't exactly fun...

I agree. I think a lot of it has to do with the Brandon Davies fiasco. I don't mind 98% of what happens in the Spectrum. I love "Winning Team, Losing Team," "Stupid," and most of the other clever and genuinely funny posters, chants, and good-humored ribbing of the players. I don't even mind the "You you you you youuuuuu ____" (DN censor) after opposing team fouls. And I realize that Section F, Row 1 always was a little over the top, and that's whatever...you're going to get that anywhere. That's all fine and dandy, but when the entire student section (90% of whom are LDS) is chanting base vulgarities and sexual epithets at one player who shares their faith, that's uncalled for, IMO. The game that year was absolutely outta control. Then, when the school tried to take steps (admittedly ill-advised, and overly draconian) to correct it, the students tried the silent treatment and it was just a real buzz-kill for everyone that year, and we haven't recovered since. Cont...

Thanks for the correction SaltLakeCitySlicker. But you knew what I meant. I see you aren't disputing my point.

Why do you say that? Chris B's Utes are never scared to whip the aggies. Scheduling just doesn't work out sometimes.

Chris B's rundown Utes are so scared of the Spectrum that they won't even play the Aggies anymore.

Ignore my little sister's jealous rant; the Spectrum has an amazing atmosphere when the Aggies are playing well.

Yes I have and I was discusted. And what they did to that BYU kid proves my point. USU fan's are nothing but disrespectful to everyone who comes to Logan.

Good thing I don't care about your opinion. The aggie fan's are disrespectful and I comment to try and show them that. Sometimes it works other times it doesn't. But I will continue to voice my opinion no matter what.

I was doing a supplier audit in Logan in 2010. Our supplier had extra tickets to the USU vs Nevada basketball game at the Spectrum so I went. I was blown away by the atmosphere. I came back to Oregon and showed everyone YouTube videos of the crowd. I have no problem with that arena being on the list.

Only for the past 2 years Stang. I predict this year swings back, because our competition is newer and better than last years WAC members. Fans will be more excited to play a ranked UNLV, UNM or SDSU as opposed to a Seattle U. More fans, excited about games could lead to more intense crowds.

Die hard royal blue coug here...you can count on one hand the venues in the country that are as amazing, impressive, and yes, intimidating as the Spectrum. I always cringe when I see BYU has to go up there because regardless of the caliber of the teams in any given year, I know it will rattle more than a few players. I just have to sit back and enjoy how incredible it is, even if my team is losing.

ChrissyB, you can comment on any basketball articles once your team actually makes it back to the dance, or maybe if your arena ever comes close to selling out again.

Chris and Stang, why to you even bother to read these articles about USU when you are so negative about the Aggies? These comments would be much more enjoyable without your negativity. The atmosphere in the Spectrum is awesome not matter what you feel about the quality of the Aggie team.

    @Chris B

U go round up your Ute basketball team and have them come play us in the Spectrum and we'll show U precisely what we have to show for it.

Chris B, you do recognize that the article is talking about games played in the Spectrum...right? Saying that the Aggies haven't had success in the NCAA tournament has nothing to do with the experience in the spectrum - regardless of level of competition or other negatives, Stew Morrill has had a 194-13 (.937) record at home and the overall record at home is 453-105 (.812)...that's some pretty signicant home court advantage.

Stang08, have you ever watched a game in the Spectrum? Intimidating is exactly how I would describe it. I remember attending a game against BYU years ago when Rafael Araujo was the starting center for BYU...someone in the student section found out he had failed a steriod drug test his first year (which he passed and they listed as a false negative) years before when he first came to the US from Brazil. They passed out thousands of little pill bottles with beads in them. Every time he touched the ball the arena went dead quiet and everyone shook the bottles. He was clearly rattled...ended up with something like 5 points and 4 rebounds. Amazing to experience.

I've got to agree with both Ironmomo and VAggie. When the students section is fired up it is absolutely amazing. I have been next to people making their first trip to the Spectrum and smiled as they were blown away by the Aggie fans.

That said, the last couple of seasons have been tough as USU has been plagued by injuries. We had been spoiled with several years of dominating the WAC. When the Aggies had a couple of average seasons it was let down that you could feel in the Spectrum.

The MWC is bringing new challenges and new opportunities. It will be exciting to see how the Aggies respond. I think they will be great!

And at the end of the day, what do they have to show for it in the last 20 years?

A 2-10 record in the big dance or something like that?

    sweet 16?
    elite 8?
    final four?

It is a lot of fun to watch; and if you're a new team visiting the Spectrum for the first time the cheers can be intimidating.
