    In this article there should be the 1979 Beaver team. Their defense and offense was better than the 73' team. I looked on the deseretnews.com and they only have the first four games on record and they were all shutouts and I know there were more than just those four. The team was undefeated and won the state title. There offense was really great to. 1A MVP Kelly Smith had 36 touchdowns just that year. I recommend that deseretnews.com get all the history and fix in this article who really is the best.

    @eagle

    "Has the 2006 Bingham team produced any NFL talent yet?"

    Um... Star Lotulelei.

    @Joe Wesley

    Love your heartfelt contribution! Miner pride.

    I Have only been around the northern part of the state since 98 Where(sorry, but the larger and better programs are) to see the teams but would have to agree about the '03 Hunter team being very good along with many of the '03-07 Timpview teams and "07 Alta. LP 14-0 2012 team was pretty incredible. Bingham team 2010 and '13 Jordan should be considered as well.

    Tough to compare-but fun.

    Atleast this question is easier to answer about basketball. The '13 LP team is without a doubt the best team the state has ever assembled.

    I am a member of the 2006 Bingham High School State Champion football team that finally brought home the title after 60 long years. To see us mentioned in the top teams in the state is truly an honor, and I'm certain that my brothers (teammates) would say the same thing. We were a VERY close group, and knew about the drought, and stopped at nothing to finally end it.

    In '06, we were a consistent team. We did beat some teams handily at times, but some of our games were close. We were methodical as well, if we didn't score on the first series, expect us to score on the second series. We knew that we had to not let up, or it might have been 61 or more years before Bingham finally won it. I would say we'd be in the top 10 in state history. We averaged 38 points a game, while allowing 14. Not high scoring, but consistent.

    Thank you for the honorable mentions, once again. Good see you on here, Tyler!

    Skyline Early 70's.

    I knew several members of the staff and they were the forerunner's for DuPaix.

    @ SSmith40. I just checked the UHSAA records book and it shows that in 1973 Beaver had 9 consecutive shutouts and North Summit had 8 in 1974. The records show Beaver won the championship in 1973 and Kanab won it in 1974. It doesn't show North Summit winning the titles in either of those years.

    Your facts were wrong on the 1973 shut outs. It was North Summit that had the consecutive shut outs and actually defeated Beaver in the state championship game.

    Ernest T. Bass - your 85' Bountiful Braves were throttled by the Davis that year and Woods X was horrible that year.

    Some of the teams mentioned in the article were not even undefeated. Shouldn't that be a minimum standard rather than just margin of victory?

    Still have the 1995 Box Elder vs East 4A championship game on film. Love to watch and listen as the commontaters gush and drool over "Cinderella" East and Bernard "Boo" Bendiger. Then listen to them slowly change their tune as BE drove East into the ground, and Boo Boo was shut down by the BE defense.

    The Dixie High Football Teams of 1973, 1974 and 1975 were three-peat State Champions. In 1975 Dixie was undefeated and had an average margin of victory of approximately 30 points and starters only got to play the first half to keep the games close. The most challenging game was the State Championship game with Wasatch held at the UofU stadium. Certainly there have been many great teams in Utah but the Dixie teams of the 1970's accomplished something pretty special. Coach Walt Brooks also deserves to be remembered as the best high school football coach as well. He taught his players that there was more to life than winning football games and that life was about giving back to those around you. The things he taught me on the football field have helped me meet the difficult life challenges since then. Thanks coach!

    What about 1985 Bountiful? Way better than Woods Cross that year.

    Skyline 1971. Simply the best football team of any high school generation. Look up their stats and players and it's a clear choice. A staggering number of the players played at Utah and BYU. Steve Marshall, Lance Robbins, Steve Lyman, Stan Varner etc. etc. etc.
    And no, I didn't go there. I went to Olympus and had to watch them trounce us every year.

    You cannot overlook the Skyline team of 1976. Oh sure, we didn't make it to the championships but we did make the playoffs. It was a team that will go down in history. If no where else, there were mentioned in the comment section of this article. Long live the team of 76.

    Eagle:
    Star Lotulelei was just drafted 14th over all in this past years draft. He started both ways on that 2006 Bingham team. Also Jordan Pendelton would have gone to the nfl for sure had he not had all those injuries. You obviously don't really know what your talking about. What does the nfl have to do with the best high school TEAM ever?

    That being said, the Bingham 2010 is definitely the best team. There margin of victory would have been 80 if the starters ever played in the second half. 16 college scholarships, all of those kids started as juniors and won the title in 09 too.

    Just my opinion, we will never really know because I don't think there is anyone who has seen all these teams play. Pretty cool to be on the list though.

    Some perspective: East High School, 1957. They won every game and were not scored on until the state finals which they won 34-6 against Logan. Pretty impressive. Are any of that team still around?

    I don't know, if you play in the NFL you're probably pretty good. Has the 2006 Bingham team produced any NFL talent yet? And I agree a bit with the Hunter team of 2004. They were awfully good and dominant. I don't know if you could say they were poorly coached, Wilken was the D-Coordinator for two or three of Timpview's state title teams before he moved on to Hunter.

    Sorry "eagle", but any team from the 60s and 70s could not hang with the talent and athleticism that athletes have today!

    Hunter 03' is the best team to ever play football in the state of Utah! There were big, strong, and athletic. If they had any discipline or coaching..... they would go down as the best team ever. I believe if you put that team with Coach Pecks coaching staff, they would have been unstoppable!

    Hunter 04' is the best class to ever graduate. State champs in football and basketball! BEST EVER!!!!

    Bingham 2006. The teams they faced that year were better than the teams that the 2010 team faced, with pretty similar results. Also, they laid the foundation for the first Bingham championship in 60 years and established the current dynasty. There's something to be said for ending a drought and the intangibles involved there.

    This will be the only props I give Skyline as they are fierce rivals, but I think Skyline set the precedent for dynasty during the 90's - they had some awesome teams that were not only athletic, but disciplined under DuPaix. I would put a couple of their teams head to head with Bingham's best.

    I think some of the teams Skyline had in the late 1960's and 1970's were pretty good and actually turned out several NFL players. Layton had a great team in 1978 and produced some NFL talent. When you produce NFL players you must be pretty good. I would also put the West HS team that went 13-0 in 1992 up there. They had both a great defense and offense.

    I think we need to have some historical perspective.
