I have been using DonorsChoose.org for seven years, and it has completely transformed my music room! Donors have funded projects for drums, xylophones, music for my choir, a choreographer, technology, and so many more materials/supplies! I have had over 90 projects funded! It is up to the individual teacher to help promote his/her project to help with funding. IF the project does not fund, the donated money goes back to the DONORS who then decide whether to donate it to a different project, donate it back to the teacher whose project expired, OR give it to Donors Choose who then selects a project to apply the money to. DonorsChoose.org is an amazing organization helping students all over the country!

If your project does not fund....try again and spread the word that you have a project on Donors Choose!

It sounds like such a wonderful idea for teachers, that I wish I had thought of it first. I was disappointed by the comments of the first poster. I guess all good ideas have their failings and drawbacks. But it's so hard on teachers when they see their students without the proper utensils and supplies to do their work.

It may be that this was a great idea in the beginning but when I used it and did not receive enough outside pledges by a few dollars, you loss all of it. So be aware that they keep it. Wouldn't it be better to at least receive a portion of the project goal. They also keep changing corporate support as you achieve a portion of your project, much like a bait and switch. Sorry but I discourage its use and so does my district as others have been burned.
