Congrats to the BYU and Aggie players on the watch list, I think both are all
around quality teams and will be very tough. I would have liked to see more from
the Utes but I still think we have solid players.
JD - "BYU played a horrible teams last year, but that creates huge stats
against very weak opponents,"BYU played five football teams that
finished in the top 25 last year, you might want to rethink your post.
@jdBitter huh. I'll tell you why it matters. utah
"fans" have been telling us how superior utah's athletes and
recruiting are. Well if that were actually true then utah would have more
players that are actually recognized as superior. The fact they don't just
shows utah "fans" blustering about the superiority of their recruits and
athletes is just a fantasy, fiction pushed by supporters of a losing program
"frantically and emotionally" grasping fro relevance. Kinda sad really.
These award lists are ridiculous. Some have as many as 70-80 names on them. The
Desert News and BYU have been reporting these lists as of late like they are the
greatest things ever. When the list is narrowed to 10, report it. Until then, it
is silly and a waste of time. BYU media milks the naming on a list like nobody
else. The LA Times does not have an article every day about which UCLA or USC
player is on a "list." It is rarely mentioned until five candidates are
left. BYU played a horrible teams last year, but that creates huge stats against
very weak opponents, thus the number of players on lists. Is Provo that
desperate for recognition that being on a "list" is the end all greatest
thing ever? Here is the only list you need to know "BCS or BIG 5 conference
teams" and "non-BCS conference less teams." Here is a prediction,
nobody from the state of Utah will win one of these dozens of awards, nobody.
But you can bet BYU announcers will mention being on a list every time they say
a players name during every broadcast all season.
@Cougsndawgs Ah, thanks. I realized soon after I posted that the
rest of the posts were from days before mine so I thought that was a
possibility. Now that it says 17 that was definitely the case.
A simple reminder to all BYU haters! These watch lists are picked by people
outside of Utah that have no ties to BYU or Utah State and do not drink the Blue
cool-aid in any shade!!! So why is there only 1 Ute listed for 1 award? See you
on the field in Sept.!!!
poyman"BYU = 7 NomineesUtah Stae = 6 NomineesUtah = 1 Nominee"The lone Utah nominee would have been
playing for BYU if the Cougars had had an available scholarship for him when he
returned home early from his LDS mission. It's only July and the
PACy-WACers are already loading up on excuses for another losing, bowl-less
Trevor Reilly is on the Butkus watch list, by the way. This is all a bunch of
meaningless preseason hoopla anyway. It's cool for the individuals that get
noticed, but will hardly factor into the actual awards whatsoever, and has no
bearing on how these players will actually do. If I remember correctly, Marqise
Lee wasn't on the watch list for the Biletnikoff last year, and he looked
like one of the most freakishly athletic and talented receivers in college
history winning the award last year. Good luck to all these guys, though.
atl134:"By the way, where in the world are you all getting BYU: 3 USU:
2 Utah: 1 from? The list is of 14 players, 7 from BYU, 6 from USU and 1 from
Utah".They've been adding to the article as players are
added to new lists coming out. The article now says 14, but it didn't
*shrugs* Preseason predictions aren't worth much of anything since
there's too many unknowns.By the way, where in the world are
you all getting BYU: 3 USU: 2 Utah: 1 from? The list is of 14 players, 7 from
BYU, 6 from USU and 1 from Utah.
@Aggie238Up for it but not even gonna come close to winning it.
There is no chance of that happening as long as he's an aggie.
This proofs we have three times more talent than utah.
They must not be 4-star athletes
Uh, CougFaninTX there are 3 Aggies on the list, up for 4 awards. And the
Deseret News fails to mention here that Chuckie Keeton is also on the watch list
for a small award known as the "Heisman," see the DesNews article on
Apr. 26, 6:22 PM. (Admittedly, I don't expect him to win it, but neither
will all or most of the players listed here.) Here are the Aggies who are
currently on award watch lists: Chuckie Keeton (Heisman, Maxwell), Tyler Larson
(Rimington), and Nick Diaz (Groza)
Crissy, Are you out there??
3 BYU, 2 USU, 1 Utah. Well, so much for the power conference. Nice work BYU
and USU. Should be a great season. Still waiting for the Chris B spin.
Congrats to all!Go Murphy! Go Utes!!
I honestly think BYU should be more nervous about USU than playing the u.
Wow, three for the Cougs, two for the Aggies, and one for the Utes. This must be disappointing for chris b.
