Nice honor Chuckie. This should be a good year for your program. Just beat the Utes and everyone in Utah will be happy.

@Ute buster

Not everyone like the aggies and wants them to beat Utah again. On another note it's just another list for another award that he has no chance to win. Make no mistake about it aggies I know how much of an honor it is. This kid is good and is being recognized for his talent. But he isn't talented enough to win any of these big time awards.

Utah State is the second best program in the state right now.

Coming off a 10 win season, 2 field goals away from a BCS game, top 25 ranking.

Other than being a member of a Pac 12 team 4 years removed from a second BCS win against Alabama, I can't think of a more desirable position to be in for anyone in the state.

Go Aggies

Go Utes!

Chuckie stays healthy and USU has another record season. Yes, he is that good.

Crissy is correct. USU is the second best team in the state.

I am a BYU fan, however, I think it is great Keeton is being recognized; he deserves the acknowledgement.

BTW, ignore Chris B. There are several reasons, one being he is irrelevant, and another is that one can surmise from the comments he/she/it makes, Chris B. lives in a fantasy bubble that is a suburb of the Emerald City in the merry old land of Oz.

At any rate, Chuckie is a very good quarterback and I hope more recognition comes his way.

@Down under

At least we are number 3 in someones elses eye's. Besides mine of course.

@Go Big Blue

Putting to much faith in this one guy aren't you? Remeber offense win's games. Defense win's championships.

@ Stang

That is just why the Aggies won the WAC against 2 other top 25 teams last year. They didn't need any defense against a highly over rated qb at SUU.

Stang08
Cedar City, Utah

What a shocker. The one person who usually argues with me is arguing with me. OVERRATED? Clarify that for me please. He may have been overrated in your eye's but in the real world around the state he was/is the real deal. I've heard his name on ESPN multiple times. If the excperts at ESPN are mentioning his name he is far from overrated. Keeton cannot/will not live up to the excpectations of you fan's. You think he is untouchable in every way and he isn't. Please if I'm wrong prove it. Next time you want to talk about someone who was/is overraated let's talk about Jake Heaps.

The SUU game was over after the first 8 minutes....I'm sure Weber State will present much more of a challenge this year.

Stang08

@Ironmomo

Don't count on it. I like Weber State and respect the heck out of them. However, they need to rebuild their program to it's former glory. And you can stop bringing up that game. You won and don't need to boast about it all the time. Besides the fact that we are talking about Keeton losing another award. Not Brad and weather he will have success in the big leagues. Let's see how long it takes the aggies to mention Brad's name again. I just offered an opinion about Keeton and some how Brad's name came up. He may have been apart of my team but when the article isn't talking about him I don't mention his name. Until you closet T-Birds mention it of course.

Aggie84

Question Stang, did Brad ever have a respectable game against any real competition. He certainly choked against the Aggies. Of course, a lot of qbs choked against the Aggies last year. Chuckie would not be on so many lists unless he was THAT GOOD! Will he win any of them, most likely not. I do agree with you, Heaps was not good. Nelson was not good. Hill will be good. Not just as good as Chuckie.

Stang08
Cedar City, Utah

Just under two hours before the name was mentioned again. UNLV and CAL were very respectable. Or maybe you didn't notice we beat UNLV and hung 30+ points on CAL. Plus beating multiple number 1 FCS teams like Eastern Washington is respectable. You may not think so but it really doesn't matter what you think. What choke job do you speak of? The aggies were ready. The aggies did the job they were supposed to. Nelson was good. You just don't like him because he got out of aggie country. Hill may be as good if not better than Keeton. Don't know just yet. Let's see if Keeton makes it in the NFL. If he doesn't when the time comes then we know who was better. Brad Sorenson would be the one who is better. All I said was Keeton wouldn't win any awards. And then this happend.

Aggie84
Idaho Falls, ID

Stang, I would have you ask the Y fans what they thought of Nelson. UNLV, CAL, Eastern Washington are quality teams? What top 75 teams did any of them beat? We were elated that Nelson left so we could have Chuckie. We already have the score on Chuckie and Brad, the score, 1-0. You slap my Aggies be prepared to take the heat!

Aggie238
Logan, UT

Stang, the reason everyone brings up Brad Sorenson with you is because you spent the ENTIRE preseason leading up to the USU v. SUU game on the Herald Journal boards running your mouth and "boasting" (to use a word you're fond of) about how he was going to shred USU's defense and how he was the best QB in the state, etc. Well, what happened? He looked like a scared deer in the headlights of an oncoming freight train when he actually had to stare down a real defense. His offense scored a grand total of THREE points while the USU offense coasted on autopilot to an easy win. So, we're just making you eat some well deserved crow. And, given the accuracy of your previous predictions over the past 3-4 years, you ought to find some good recipes, since you're likely to eat a lot more of it if the current trend continues. Oh, and UNLV and Cal last year are hardly what anyone in the FBS world would call "respectable."

Aggie238
Logan, UT

Chuckie, on the other hand, has performed extremely well even in very hostile conditions against formidable opponents. You forget his freshman year at Auburn, where he almost single-handedly had the game won in his first ever collegiate showing against the defending National Champions. Only defensive lapses which he had no control over cost USU that game. Then there have been the games at Wisconsin, vs. Utah (which despite their poor showing last year had a respectable defense at least), at Louisiana Tech, at San Jose State, and vs. Toledo, all of which were masterful (though not always perfect) performances against very respectable competition, including three teams that were ranked in the Top 25. Not taking anything away from Brad Sorenson. The NFL scouts obviously saw something in him. But if he was good, then Chuckie is phenomenal by comparison.

Stang08
Cedar City, Utah

@Aggie84

Don't really care what everyone thought of Nelson. Yes they were. UNLV maybe not but Cal is a quality team. They are a PAC12 school after all. And Eastern Washington being number 1 in the country at the FCS leve is no question a quality team. NUMBER 1 equals quality. What heat? I see weak people presenting bitter opinions. Chuckie is still an aggie and Brad is in the NFL. So just talk.

@Aggie238

My argument still stands. He was the best. USU was just ready. That tells me they were afriad of him. USU has a new coach so I believe they won't do anything. I find it funny that you consider your team the best in the country. I was under the impression that the National Champion was the best in the country. Guess I and the rest of the country have a lot to learn. The National Champion isn't the best in the country. USU is undoubtably the best in the country. Almost doesn't count. Against big schools you cannot pull of a win. You always choke (to use a word you're fond of). Now end this aggies.

Aggie238
Logan, UT

Stang, no one here has said anything even remotely insinuating that USU is the best in the country. Brad Sorenson was not the best. Compare stats straight up. Chuckie Keeton was/is the better QB in every single category, outside of his freshman year when he only played the first half of the season (even then, he still had a higher QB rating and performed better in most categories than Sorenson). He still has two years left and has showed no signs of hitting a ceiling. Also, I almost never use the word "choke" except when referring to starting lawnmowers.

Aggie238
Logan, UT

And for a team that supposedly had to be overprepared for Sorenson, USU sure spent a lot of time with the 3rd and 4th string on the field...
