I took a chance and went with my two teenagers to the 'The Lone Ranger', thinking, wrongly, that Hollywood could make a fun movie. It was absolutely horrible, filled with adult themes, swearing, pseudo caricatures of religious people, a dufus Lone Ranger, irreverent depictions of religion, vulgar and evil depictions (a man cutting out a heart and eating it), Corporations headed by evil religious people, the U.S. cavalry as unmerciful idiots, White people generally depicted as the source of all of our problems, and rampant depictions of Political correctness. I know, you are wondering why I just didn't walk out. I'm disgusted with that too. I do not go to movies hardly at all, and when I do I usually wait to hear a bundle of reviews before going. This one caught me by surprise. I just decided on a whim to go with my kids. I'm ridiculous. This movie was disgusting.

It's nice to see an industry rebound.

Wednesday, I took a chance with a G-Rated movie. Yes, "Despicable Me 2". I had my eyes opened again, that contrary to some people's opinions Hollywood can still make a funny movie. That said, for the next 98 minutes the Society's PC scared cows were mercilessly skewered by reformed Super-villan Gru's minions. I and the large population of Kids in the audience enjoyed the sophistated humour that harkened back to the winking MGM and Warner Brothers cartoons from the 30s and 40s. I'd see the movie again if I had somebody to go see it with again. LOL

Lone Ranger wasn't bad. It was 15 minutes too long & paced too slow. It wasn't as bad as Wild Wild West w/ Will Smith.

At least, there wasn't a trailer for Anchorman 2... Comedy is funny. Will Ferrell isn't Neither is Sandler or Kevin James but I digress.

That said, people go to movies for an escape. Well, I do. I'm looking forward to RED 2, The Wolverine, & 2 Guns with Denzel
