"Carroll would have the first right of refusal on No. 3." Actually, per NBA rules, he CAN'T give up #3, even if he's willing to - he has to give notice the previous season if he wants to change numbers and stays with the same team. If he's re-signed by the Jazz, then he will be wearing #3. He has no option.

If they can get around the rule, Demare Carroll would totally give up the number. He's one of the classier players in the NBA. Burke wore #5 in high school. As far as I know, that's available.
