Brad's in the NFL now. And you guys have lost the best thing that ever happend to poor old USU. Glad you finally see it my way.

    Hey Stang,

How's SUU doing in the Summit League? Or is it the Great West now? Big Sky maybe? Oh, we were talking about the Aggies going to the MWC and how irrelevant they are...my bad. While we're at it though, remind me about how good Brad Sorensen and the Thunderbirds were last year against Utah State, will you? I need a pick me up since USU is obviously going to be so terrible this year.

  • Stang08 Cedar City, Utah

Actually SUU may not win a title. But niether will USU. I'm happy with my program continuing to go up. What's your opinion about your program going down since Andersen left? SUU may not win a title at this time. Only time will tell.

    Stang,

I'm pretty sure SUU will win a national championship before USU. Actually, they'll probably win one before anyone else in the state. It sure is a good time to be a thunderbird.

  • Stang08 Cedar City, Utah

    @The A Game

And when has USU won a national title? BYU has one more national title than USU has. The aggies haven't even had a sniff at one.

Pretty silly to criticize any of the state football programs for where they are.
Utah is better off in the PAC 12 than in the MWC. They're not going back.
BYU is better off independent than in the MWC. They're probably not going back.
USU is better off in the MWC than in the WAC. They can't go back.

"For now we'll settle for our new rivalry with BSU every year."

Rivalry? How is it a "rivalry", if BSU wins every game?

You know, I skipped this article originally, figured I didn't have a hound in that fight. Then I saw 22 comments and thought, "sure enough, no mention of BYU or Utah, yet there we both were."

Congrats, USU, keep climbing the ladder! Of course, getting out of the WAC and into the MWC is a little like getting out of Egypt and wandering in the wilderness. But commissioners move on, then maybe there'd be hope for the MWC after all.

I don't think BYU could or would ever give up TV rights to go back to the MWC. Not sure what would be gained would justify what would be lost.

It sounds to me like Boise got the deal that might have worked for BYU.

BYU had nothing to do with WAC football dissolving and leaving NMSt and Idaho homeless.

Considering Utah's 37-history of complete mediocrity in the WAC, however, U should be more respectful, especially since losing to the only WAC team U played last season killed your bowl chances.

    ______

    LOL!
BYU had everything to do with how a national champion is picked. Especially after beating a 6-6 Michigan team in 84'. The very idea of how BYU won just dissolved.
Signing a contract with the Poinsettia Bowl = no national title for BYU. No wonder they are just happy to be on TV.

The only thing little brother on the hill has accomplished since joining the PAC is to plaster PAC logos all over town.

    -----------

I also remember Utah plastering BYU all over LES.

The only thing in the PAC-12? Come on...

    * Overall finished 4th in Season I
    * One of two teams to win a bowl game in 2011 (4th rated PAC bowl game)
    * Utah went 13-12 in two seasons, noting close to upper 3rd but more close to Washington (14-12) then Wazzu (6-18).

"Yes, it's nice to live in the reflected light of Notre Dame and pretend you are them."

Actually, BYU doesn't have to live in anyone's reflected light.

We have our own National Championship, our own Heisman Trophy winner, our own exclusive network television contract, our own national fan base, and our own perennial Top 25 team... just like Notre Dame.

BYU's "Independent logo" is simply BYU's logo. We don't have to pretend we're a big boy in a conference that we've done absolutely nothing to enhance.

    _________

Well BYU did something to enhance being an independent. New Mexico St. & Idaho are your new band of brothers!

Sorry, you might have some goodies, but you are not "just like Notre Dame."

Honestly, as a BYU fan there are times I miss the old MWC and the rivalries like AF, CSU, and SDSU. Then I remember who their commissioner is and my nostalgia is snuffed out. Maybe BYU can have a set up with the MWC similar to ND/ACC someday. I'd love to play some of these teams again. For now we'll settle for our new rivalry with BSU every year.

It's more like the WAC 4.0 or the MWC 3.0, but, regardless of what you call it, the Aggies can be far more successful in their new conference than the arrogant Utes have been since joining PAC.

Keeping score since the Utes joined the PAC:

    Top 25 Finishes
    USU 1
    BYU 1
    Utah 0

    Bowls
    USU 2
    BYU 2
    Utah 1

You mean the WAC 2.0 is a good home for the aggies. Make no mistake about it guys. Nothing has or will change for the aggies. Until they consistantly win and go to a place like the Big12. That will never happen though.

Good luck to the Aggies; if they do well in the MWC, they will be more relevant and go to better bowls than Utah - see 2012.

  • CougFaninTX Frisco, TX

With six teams from the WAC and six from the MWC, the argument can surely be made - is this the WAC or the MWC. Certainly not as strong as of conference as MWC used to be with BYU, TCU and Utah. But stronger that the old WAC without New Mexico St and Idaho. Good luck Aggies.

  • Go Big Blue!!! Bountiful, UT

An awesome time to be an Aggie. The MWC represents what a conference should be, regional teams (plus a trip to Hawaii) building rivalrys. USU has worked hard for this opportunity and is poised to make an immediate impact on the conference. The MWC will be a great home. GO AGGIES!

  • ekute Layton, UT
    June 30, 2013 8:08 a.m.

I don't know why the byu fans aren't screaming at holmoe to get them into this conference.
Good luck to the Aggies, if they do well in the MWC they will be more relevant and go to better bowls than byu.

And yes, byu "fans", even with their growing pains the last 2 years, Utah is still more relevant than byu.

It's been a long time in coming, but I'm happy for the Aggies. They're finally going to be in a competitive conference in both football and basketball.

    Good luck!
