"Police have not charged anyone and consider the shooting to be self-defense."

Okay, nothing to see here, move along.

Well done to the person who successfully defended himself, although he will probably suffer emotional trauma from the incident, and might possibly be subject to a civil suit from relatives of the deceased "wealth redistribution specialist."

"A bad guy with a gun is only stopped by a good guy with a gun." Proven to be true once again.

DN Subscriber 2, this didn't "prove" anything. If nobody had shot this man, most likely he would have completed his robbery and been arrested two blocks away.

And at the end of the day, that gun owner went home and put his gun somewhere, subjecting his children and family to the well-documented risks of having a gun present in the home. Now there's a tragedy waiting to happen.

I'll let you be the guy with no defense for himself and family when/if confronted by a criminal with a weapon.

I'll protect my family.

Guns ARE the answer when confronted by a violent criminal.
