@AZUTE1

How many of KVN's tackles over the last two seasons have been solo, unassisted tackles?
How many other players are as versatile as KVN, as evidenced in the statistical categories of defense?
How many defensive players have won the Heisman?

Yeah, it's extremely unlikely that KVN will win the Heisman. That's obvious. He would have to put up numbers not "based in reality" to even be considered for the Heisman. Defensive players just don't do it! Charles Woodson was the only (solely) defensive player to ever win the Heisman! This discussion of KVN for Heisman is just wishful thinking, which I agree is not "based in reality." The Butkus award is a much more S.M.A.R.T. goal for KVN. The guy is a monster, regardless of the competition he faces, or if his tackles are assisted or not. Nobody will have a more consistent impact on the Cougar defense for a long time. Ogletree was consistent for sure, but KVN just has the wow factor.

I'm sure being drafted in the first round will be consolation for either 0-4/1-3 against the Utes--He's got his priorities straight...LOL

Also- what is with Utah fan's obsession with insulting Bronco? It's really just petty and immature imo...Bronco is a terrific head coach. Sure, he struggles against good teams. Struggles is probably (definitely) an understatement. But to call him "Donko" and "Roscoe" is just uncalled for. He is a man of extreme integrity. What has he ever done to the Utes to warrant this treatment? Besides sustaining the Ute trolls by having a losing record against the Utes.......if anything, you should be thankful for Bronco. Give him the respect he deserves. He's not the kind of guy to put logos in the urinals unlike another coach I know of.......but I still treat that coach with respect..
Just food for thought.

RE: AZUTE1

"Nobody claims KVN isn't capable of excelling against a #23 SOS, such as the one SCAR played against in 2012, but the fact remains, he didn't do so and he won't ever get the opportunity to prove it on this level! …I then stated how team-success is unequivocally tied-into an individual's ability to be in serious Heisman-contention, whether one agrees with it or not, and in this regard there's, literally, zero regarding byu and their resume which would qualify him for it.

AZUTE1, I agree with you that strong SOS (usually in top 15) does have a correlation with Heisman winners. However, there is precedent for “contenders” (especially defensive contenders) that suggest KVN could still be in the discussion.

2009 Ndamukong Suh, Nebraska (fourth place finalist), #52 SOS
1997 Charles Woodson, Michigan (winner, played both sides) #36 SOS
1990 Ty Detmer, BYU #63 SOS

Most services put BYU’s 2013 SOS at either #42 or #25. That clearly is strong enough that if KVN plays as good as or better than last season he should be in the conversation.

Don't you have to have a winning record to talk trash? Seems like the Pac12 trash team up North just loves to talk trash here and on BYU sports boards. Try getting a winning record, first, please!

By losing conference games, the utes have helped other pac 12 teams become bowl eligible. The Pac12 conference knew what they were doing by inviting Utah in both football, and basketball.

KVN will have a great season, no doubt. Excited for him and wish him all the success this season.

Utes... not so much.

Ute theme song for this season... "I'll Be Home for Christmas"

"I'll be home for Christmas...You can count on me...There'll be snow and mistle toe, but no utes on TV...Christmas eve will find me, watching the Cougars win"...sing it now, "I'll be home for Christmas...Cuz I bowl in my dreams". Sing it loud AZUTE and Nav, etc...it's the only song you'll have when all the air's gone out of Utah Man Sir. Lol.

"Re AZUTE1

You make fun of us for beating one-year-wonder USU by 3? Well, if I recall correctly, which I do. Utah lost to them. Weird... And Utah ended up on their couches watching BYU beat SDSU in a bowl game as they stayed home for the holidays. Keep on banging your chest :)"

2-Star byu knows first-hand the difference in playing usu up there in Logan, instead! What happened during 2-Star byu's last visit up there? One thing's for certain, it didn't go into OT! There's a reason 2-Star byu has avoided Logan like the plague, and money has zero to do with it!

We played against significantly tougher SOS in 2012, per the norm, than 2-Star byu did and secured our annual victory over 2-Star byu, as well, yet missed bowl game for the 1st time since '02 by merely 1 game. Yet we're 10-1 during this current BCS Era in bowl games, while 2-Star byu has also reached 11 bowl games, but has struggled mightily to just simply reach 6-5!

The clincher right here? Touting any win over SDSU, ever! This alone speaks volumes! Thanks?

Gotta love the trolls that say Utah and BYU are no longer rivals on one hand, that the Utes have moved on and are to good to be considered a rival! But on the other hand their many posts keep saying that KYN/Hoff are going to finish their great careers 0-4 against their rivals! By the way for those keeping score since 1972 the record is BYU 26 wins Utah 14 wins!!! I have a good feeling that this year Von Noy and Hoff will finish their unfinished business and it will be a Cougar victory!!!

Go Cougs!!!
Go Utes!!!

Since 1975 BYU is 10-3 versus USU in Logan. Additionally, BYU had beaten Utah State ten straight times prior to the 2010 loss.

What were you saying?

Who was better last year, Y, or U? Well, last year KVN bowl game play > the entire Utah team's. We'll see you in September, Ute trolls.

How in the world could anything which took place nearly 4 decades ago even remotely relate to what's going on these days?

Furthermore, what took place up there in Logan wasn't just simply a fluke-win in OT, but rather a thorough beating of epic-proportions! You can be rest-assured, usu fully-expects to win this home game against 2-Star byu and will play it, accordingly!

My comment specifically focused-in on what's relevantly ocurring these days, not what occurred when grandpa Chester or Uncle Merle were on the field-of-play!

Let's stay focused here and not merely remain current, but choose to be Spin-free, as well, deal?

"How in the world could anything which took place nearly 4 decades ago even remotely relate to what's going on these days?"

You must be a Ute fan. Here, let me help you with the math... ten-in-a-row means that the previous TEN games were won by BYU. Which means you don't have to go back four decades if you don't want to. Try one. BYU won in 2012 (6-3), 2011 (27-24), 2009 (35-17), 2008 in Logan (34-14), 2006 (38-0), 2002 in Logan (35-34). Utah State won in 2010 (16-31) Pretty easy, eh?

"Furthermore, what took place up there in Logan wasn't just simply a fluke-win in OT, but rather a thorough beating of epic-proportions!"

The margin of victory in USU's win was less than the average margin of victory of BYU's last ten wins against them.

"Let's stay focused here and not merely remain current, but choose to be Spin-free, as well, deal?"

I'd love to hear your response to the current BYU/USU head to head (BYU leads 10-1), without spin. Cheers.

It's official. Everyone loves to follow BYU football! 53 comments already about BYU football, most not by BYU fans. With Heisman potential on the team, look for more comments than last year. I love it!

KNV will give BYU it's next major award. Looking forward to it!

"Any negative comment made about BYU from a ute just puts utah deeper in the cellar. "

I read at least 40 cellar dwelling comments on this article alone. Profound statement.

"56 - 6, the largest point margin of victory in the entire series. Who owns it? BYU"

Another beaut!

Re AZUTE: Lmbo...very nicely done. I too was wondering where the "stay current" business came from. Your post concerning USU must have been confusing by stating that SINCE 1975 BYU is 10-3 in Logan. Obvioulsy the 10 in a row stat was completely ignored as well as understanding that SINCE means from a certain time to the PRESENT. Haha, smh.

LOL....Nice try! You conveniently truncated the statement of yours I quoted/directly responded to. I'll quote you again--

"Since 1975 BYU is 10-3 versus USU in Logan."

Again, how does what happened nearly 4 decades ago relate to what's happening these days?

Then you listed games PRE-dating usu's 2010 whooping of byu in Logan. Please explain how they're relevant to 2013, in Logan, particularly those played in provo? How do you figure this gives byu any advantage, whatsoever? Hysterical!

It's 100% easy. Only 2 games have been played since the 2010 Massacre, both 3-PT struggles for byu, in provo, the 1st of which usu dominated byu, virtually from start-to-finish, before a miraculous, improbable comeback by byu in the game's final minutes. The second of which could've just as easily gone in usu's favor. Both of which took place in provo.

If byu is barely escaping usu in front of 50K of their own fans, in fact getting lucky to do so, just imagine how it's going to be playing a usu team in Logan which returns virtually all of their key-starters!

As all of my comments are, this comment of mine is equally 100% Spin-Free! I invite you to join me for the 1st time!

Hysterical! Speaking of, "stay current", I'm reminded of witnessing byu fan all over multiple websites before playing against Texas in 2011, exclaiming the following--

"We own Texas! We're 2-0 against them! Therefore, we're going to beat them again in 2011!"

Forget about the fact that the only 2 games previously played between the 2 schools took place in 1987 and 1988! Yep, 1987/1988 were 100% relevant and in line with, "stay current"!

Hysterical!

AZUTE:
Yes, your spin is hysterical indeed. You try and make a jab about how BYU "avoids Logan like the plague" because of one poor game where they lost, so Wiscoug points out to you that losing up there isn't the norm as BYU OWNS Utah state (in Logan and Provo). Then you want to say that history is irrelevant while at the same time arguing that it is and that's why BYU won't go up there (because of one poor game 3 yrs ago)?...hysterical indeed. Your arguments are tangential and contradictory. If you want to jab BYU for playing poorly somewhere, don't pick USU and Logan, that was YOUR mistake. Wiscoug was merely trying to correct you with an accurate portrayal of how BYU typically performs in Logan...not your crimson skewed one. Also, concerning the present, you act as if USU is the only school that's improved from 2010. BYU has also...wait, were we looking at history 3 yrs ago, or talking about the present? I'm not sure which direction you're going PRESENTLY. "Hysterical!"

Bottom line SINCE 1975 (not 40 yrs ago...SINCE...and not 2 wins in 87/88) BYU owns the aggies in Logan.
