Gotta love the trolls that infer that individual defensive accomplishments have a direct correlation to beating elite teams. Hate to break it to you, but what KVN accomplished playing against elite competition (five ranked teams) is impressive any way you look at it. He drew more double teams than Ziggy (Ziggy was relatively unknown until after the season) and still filled the stat sheet. He also single handedly beat a good bowl team, and is now on Phil Steele's first team preseason all-american team. I agree that he'll get even more attention this year and his statistics will likely dip a little, but he'll be a game changer.

AZUTE:
You absolutely can't say anything nice or positive about BYU can you? Regardless of the fact that BYU has had successes, been national champs, had heisman trophy winners, Doak walker, Davey o Brien etc, etc...all you can do is spin using SOS and any other excuse you can find. There's a term for that...troll. I have given Utah props on many occasions when their accomplishments have warranted it. That's called thinking objectively, you might want to try it sometime if you desire any credibility. That said, thanks again for showing your unabashed obsession with all things BYU, and irrevocably proving what most BYU fans already know...beating BYU is more important to the utes than anything else they can accomplish.

"AZute, yes, you are correct. BYU had a bad quarterback that single-handedly gave Utah the game."

My cue to discontinue reading. Spin/Excuses galore!

4 of 7 TOs were forced by UTAH. This is unequivocal! We won by 44-PTS, not 7 or less as with ultra-rare byu win.

Referencing CU 2011 is 100% irrelevant. It in no way mitigates UTAH straight annihilating byu on their homefield, but rather serves merely as a tactic employed by byu fan as a distraction from/coping mechanism for UTAH's utter dominance of byu!

Zero BCS Bowl Games, zero deep-runs in The Tourney, save Ainge 30+ years ago. National leader in Tourney appearances without ever reaching The Final Four!

byu is the poster-child for playing weak-sauce schedules & getting utterly owned by their rival in the king of all sports, football, never beating a good team, save usu barely by 3-PTS at home and utter post-season futility across-the-board!

6-5 in bowl games during this current BCS Era, whereas UTAH's 10-1, with multiple blowouts of byu, 2 undefeated seasons, BCS x 2, Top-4/-2 Final-Rankings, instate-recruiting dominance, etc., etc., etc., etc.!

My favorite comments to read are utes bashing BYU in the many ways they do. Any negative comment made about BYU from a ute just puts utah deeper in the cellar. PLEASE continue to disparage BYU, most likely you're one of the thousands of ute fans that have only been a "fan" of the red for 10 years. I was attending utah when urban arrived and when he left. I actually thought it was great that the football team was having such success. But I will never forget how the athletic department had to GIVE AWAY 10-12 thousand tickets to fill the stadium at urbans request. BYU has accomplished a lot, been doing it for four decades, has more all americans, national college individual award winners, college hall of famers, superbowl winners, NFL hall of famers, and a national championship. utah does and will forever own the rivalry series. The culture on the hill since those games began has been and always will be, beat BYU, it's the only game that really matters. And that attitude has proven results. They get up for that game like no other. Don't get me wrong, I wish BYU had that mentality.

No inference made, but rather fact stated!

Nobody claims KVN isn't capable of excelling against a #23 SOS, such as the one SCAR played against in 2012, but the fact remains, he didn't do so and he won't ever get the opportunity to prove it on this level! And SDSU was barely decent, hardly worthy of any hype! LOL

Look at the kids who win The Heisman Trophy and virtually always one will see him attached to a highly-successful team! This is fact, whether one accepts/denies it!

In conclusion, nobody claims KVN isn't elite, but this article is clearly not based in reality! Just simply par for the course!

You can't get enough of Yours Truly! I absolutely love it!

This is a commonplace-myth generated by byu fan which is purely wishful-thinking, nothing more. We respond to byu fans, correct their endless mistakes and when they attempt in vain to point their collective-finger at us, in an effort to "prove" they're somehow better, we effortlessly remind them of our complete dominance of them on the field-of-play and their auto-response to it is to erroneously conclude this palpable falsity of yours that beating byu is more important to us than all else! Logic 101!

You know, you have commmented six times in a total of 23 posts (at this time, there will be more).

You have made more than 25% of the total comments. And you think BYU fans are obsessed?

"Van Noy's stat sheet practically screams for national attention. He tallied 13 sacks, 22 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles, two interceptions and two blocked kicks last season....To put that in perspective, South Carolina's Jadeveon Clowney also had 13 sacks as well as 23.5 tackles for loss and he was a consensus All-American defensive end." -- Lafe Peavler

But to put that in even MORE perspective, Clowney played in the SEC before facing off vs. Michigan in the postseason. Van Noy played WAC football before facing off vs. the team Brady Hoke left to coach at Michigan. Even with the toughest schedule the Band of Bunglers will have ever faced in the HISTORY of their program, it will STILL have been a weaker SOS than what So. Carolina faced last season.

Per Phil Steele...

2012 So. Carolina SOS: #21
2012 Indy-WAC SOS: #68

AP rankings

BYU: Ranked in AP Poll: 11 Times (Preseason), 17 Times (Final), 236 Weeks (Total)
Utah: Ranked in AP Poll: 2 Times (Preseason), 5 Times (Final), 77 Weeks (Total)

Get back to us when U reach double digits in AP Top 25 finishes.

It took U 119 seasons to reach FIVE!

Re: AZUTE1 @ 11:42 am

I don't care what you post because you really have no credibility here. I merely pointed out the quantity of comments you made. And, BTW you never answered my question.

KVN is a premier nationally recognized linebacker which, barring injury, will have a fantastic year.

To try and minimize his accomplishments and talent as you have done is just another failed attempt.

Hope you are satisfied.

Re: Naval Vet @ 11:47 AM

Why don't you give the final poll rankings for your Utes in 2012? You know, the polls also take into consideration SOS.

BTW: KVN is a great linebacker. He has the numbers to prove it.

"KVN is a premier nationally recognized linebacker which, barring injury, will have a fantastic year.

Here's what I posted earlier--

"KVN is solid, this is irrefutable."

"Nobody claims KVN isn't capable of excelling against a #23 SOS, such as the one SCAR played against in 2012, but the fact remains, he didn't do so and he won't ever get the opportunity to prove it on this level!

In conclusion, nobody claims KVN isn't elite, but this article is clearly not based in reality! Just simply par for the course!"

I then stated how team-success is unequivocally tied-into an individual's ability to be in serious Heisman-contention, whether one agrees with it or not, and in this regard there's, literally, zero regarding byu and their resume which would qualify him for it.

Please show where I, in fact, did as you accused me of doing per the following words of yours--

"To try and minimize his accomplishments and talent as you have done is just another failed attempt.

Hope you are satisfied."

Are you talking about Utah??

Rose bowl? lol

Any bowl game at all? lol

Re: MacNasty

Sense you like to compare Kyle and Donco, what is there head to head record? That is the best way to determine things, yet you always forget to add that to your chart.

Kyle is 5-3 against Donco with an average margin of victory of 41.4 to 20.4. 20+ Point difference
Bronco is 3-5 against Kyle with an average margin of victory of 21.33 to 25.3.

Who is better? Kyle/Utah

Also what is your great record against TCU during the same timeframe? 2-5!
Bottom finders? How about Tulsa, San Jose state, Nevada and Utah state!

In the end you would love if Kyle would have gone to byU and taken byU to an undefeated record and a win over Alabama! Side note: who was the last team to beat Alabama in a bowl game?

Who has a better bowl winning % in the same time? Utah

Fred Vader

Just curious...how long are the cUties going to ride the coat tails of the 54-10? (I'm guessing a while since they aren't producing much else) But as long as we are pointing at scoreboard, lets remember these two other scoreboards, shall we?

70 - 31, who owns it? BYU

56 - 6, the largest point margin of victory in the entire series. Who owns it? BYU (Ask Jimmy Mac about scoreboard in that game!)

So continue to trot out your little 54-10 game, its the least we can do for our little brothers on the hill.

Re AZUTE1
You make fun of us for beating one-year-wonder USU by 3? Well, if I recall correctly, which I do. Utah lost to them. Weird... And Utah ended up on their couches watching BYU beat SDSU in a bowl game as they stayed home for the holidays. Keep on banging your chest :)
