Comments about ‘Modern weddings can feature pets, pals and less tradition’

Years ago, a couple familiar to my grandparents chose as their wedding colors - black and orange in honor of Halloween. My grandfather commented that 'tick-or-treat' was what they might well have in store for them.

Some of these modern weddings are cute and curious, but I wonder if more attention should be spent on the marriage than on the wedding. A friend of mine spent a year planning the wedding with his fiancee --- every piece, every ornament, every musical selection was reviewed and evaluated again and again until the wedding was perfect. The marriage lasted about six months. More time should have been invested in planning for the married life that was to follow the initial celebration.

Riding a bike down the isle might be cute, and perhaps it has merit, but personally, I favor more traditional, enduring marriages.
