Brigham Young going on a speaking tour of the United States? Now that would have been something to see and hear.

Brigham Young doesn’t seem enigmatic to me. He was shrewd in telling the brethren no more than he had to until he was good and ready. It’s a dynamic of powerful leaders to be deliberately vague and evasive as tools for keeping all options open. He had decided on the Great Basin as the Saints destination but saw advantage in keeping others in the dark as to where they were going.

Brigham was both a powerful political and spiritual leader inspite of his feet of clay.
For this I love him. His example gives me much hope and faith in my personal journey.

Brigham Young was a peculiar person, indeed. A man of very strong feeling and opinions, yet he was known to manifest great humility at times. A prophet burdened with the literal temporal salvation of his spiritual brothers and sisters at a most desperate and dangerous time. It took a man of Young's strong will and conviction to accomplish the tasks that God placed upon him.
