Setting a personal best in the pole vault without your own poles is an exceptional feat but Weirich is an exceptional athlete. His performance this year has been fantastic. If only he had his own poles it's possible he could have gone a bit higher. This years Track and field team is not as deep as in past years but it's good to see the Y won't be going home without scoring points in the big meet. The Y still has points possible in the 10,000. Go Cougars bring honor back to Utah!

Duh, I forgot to mention Curtis Carr too. More points possible still in the steeplechase too. It's great to still have college sports to watch at this time of year. Go Cougars.

I think I would have completely freaked out if the delivery company failed to deliver the poles to the biggest athletic event of my life. Obviously he kept his cool. Way to go, Victor!

I think I would like to know what delivery company totally failed him.....

There was an incident many years ago where the transport company hired by BYU to deliver the pole vaulting poles to a meet actually sawed them in half to make them fit into the space they had available.
