I am excited for ALex. Wish him the best. Have to admit I am going to cheer for the Chiefs this year. Not like there is something to cheer for down here in AZ. Wish AZ had picked Alex up as we are in need of a great QB. I always thought Alex would do well given the right chance. Guess we will see how our new QB will do too. (Would rather have Alex)

Hope Andy and Alex can quiet all of the naysayers and get Kansas City back in the winning column.

Alex is a top 5 QB in the league hands down. He'll have a Super Bowl ring before he is all done.

Best of luck to Alex. He's kept it positive through all of the nightmare coaching games that he has gone through.

Best wishes for Alex, make those who did not value you as player and person regret it. Can't wait to see him play the niners, ( my team)and beat them. Please do it.

Huge 9er fan here and I cannot wait to see Alex beat them. Class act receiving very little respect. I hope he does to San Fran what Joe did to Steve and the 9ers the first time they played.

GO UTES!

Nice positive comments from the coaching staff about him. I wish the Chiefs and Alex luck.

Chiefs will not make the playoffs but should improve 3-4 games. It seems to have really started to click for Alex Smith.

Alex has toughed out a lot of difficult situations. I would be really happy for him if he comes out on top in the end.

It seems Alex has had to endure so much and go through so many unfortunate situations. The rise of Kap after his concussion, the OC and coaching carousel he endured with SF. I hope he finally gets a true shot at being the kind of QB he is capable of. Best of luck to him, classy guy and great embassador for the sport.

Good luck to Alex but he has not been nor will he likely ever be a top 5 quarterback. Maybe the top half of the NFL. Wish him the best still.

Chris B,

Guess he also is a first ballot Hall of Famer also!!!
Talk about delusions of grandeur!
If he can take the Chiefs to the Super Bowl than he might be closer to the top 5 but not there yet!!! I think they will be lucky to go 9-7 this year!

Go Cougs!!!
Go Utes!!!

Alex is right around top 5 as QB. Lowest interception ratio past 2 years of all starting QBs, led his team to the playoffs two years in a row, out dueled drew Brees in one of those games.... Definitely top ten. Not a Manning or Brady, better than Brees and Romo, about even with Rodgers. Still need to see where Newton, Rg3 and russel Wilson will fit in.

Gonna be an exciting year.

Also good to see Sean Smith join the Chiefs.

I'm a Cougar fan, BYU alumni, but in the Pros, I am a Utah fan! I am always glad to see anyone from the Utah schools do well in the NFL. I enjoy "rooting" for all of them. I am especially glad to see Alex Smith have a chance to show his full range of talents. This article is right-on when it talks about his leadership ability, which is something we fans don't always appreciate enough. I am not such a football fan that I can quote stats and remember specific games, like some of my friends and sons can, but I do recall games which Alex has played in, and, win or lose, it was always impressive to watch him run the team, when the team AND THE COACHES were on his side. I also recall some games where he was not given the support a quarterback needs to be one of the best. Joe Namath finally had to admit that he'd learned how much he needed his team-mates to be a winner. It is good to see that KC's coaches are behind Alex. Good Luck to him!

This is Alex's last chance. He flounders in KC and he's done. Luckily he has plenty of money. Can you believe he was chosen before Aaron Rodgers!!?

Used to be a 49er fan, but what Harbaugh did to Smith was wrong. Harbaugh has ensured that the next player who gets hit in the head won't say anything about it. Smith was having a great season - and Harbaugh never let him come back.
