Ummm... someone is missing. Baxter from Wasatch should be on the underclassmen list right?

Nice job Millard eagles on making the all-star game and a good season Thought I would see Jesse Rhodes on the 2A team and I am surprised in 3A south the 2 best players on Juabs team Kelson and Fowkes didn't get the vote especially when you look at their stats.

Congratulations to all of the boys who have been recognized for this honor. I watched many games this year and there was quite a bit of talent once again in the state.

I do have to question some things however. Why was there no selection from American Fork high school in the 5A? Why was there no selection from Highland, Timpview, or Mountain View in the 4A? Why was there no selection from Pineview, Hurricane, and Delta?

Here is my prediction for the games this weekend;

All of the "South" teams in their respective classes come up with the win at Lindquist field this Friday and Saturday.

Coach Nelson of Spanish Fork High will be coaching the "Underclassmen South" team. How in the world do you leave Maverick Buffo off of this team? One of your own, who by many accounts is one of the hardest throwing pitchers in the state (regardless of class) off of the team that YOU'RE coaching?

So let me get this straight. You have a kid in the state of Utah who legitimately hits 88-93. Already is committed to BYU, and has traveled across the country pitching against the best of the best. But you won't recognize him by putting him on this All-Star team with many of his peers?

If the invitation was given out to him, or any other boy for that matter and they declined or they had other things going on, fine. But if you just flat out didn't go to bat for your guy there's a problem! Is there trouble brewing in SF?

I watched SF's last game against Snow Canyon at UVU. Had you started the kid the outcome may have been different. He flat out shut Snow Canyon's offense down!

There might be a myriad of reasons such as availability of the athletes. Since it's a postseason event and school is out for most of the teams, perhaps some of these missing athletes are on family vacations, getting ready for missions or maybe want a break from the game before starting up summer ball.

Westside Bulldog, it says in the article that players are selected by a vote of the coaches. If we can believe everything that we read, Coach Nelson alone didn't "leave Maverick Buffo off of this team". He had a vote along with all the other high school coaches and evidently this young man didn't get as much support from the other coaches as those boys who were selected.
