Sister Duce: regarding your groups discussion on video clips: some research done
by educators a number of years ago indicated that learning diminishes after two
viewings of a film. But if I remember right, that study only dealt with a
showing from beginning to end with no analysis or discussion of the film's
content. In a similar manner, members are constantly exposed to the same
scriptural passages, but serious study and discussion brings new insight.
Seeking the Spirit opens the door to revealed truths. That's why consistent
temple attendees say they learn something new every time they go.Your
Sunday School faculty's conclusion to follow inspiration & not worry
about duplication is correct. And when a student points out they saw a video in
another class; a good set of questions can follow: "Tell me what you learned
from it." "How do you think it fits into today's discussion?"
"How have you applied what you learned since you saw it the first time?"
And so forth.
Well written article. I love your style, content and examples shared. I am
encouraged to become a better leader through reading this, thanks!
Thanks Captain Lloyd for your service and sacrifice.
