Nice job Snow and Coach Secrist, Secrist is is a Davis County boy made good... Congratulations.. Loved watching Reed as a young player and to see his success, it's wonderful. If anyone doesn't think a coach makes the difference, check out a coach who has played the game, and became a great teacher of the game... Too many high schools simply hire teachers to coach and hope they learn as go along, especially in the girls programs where they hire Spanish or band teacher simply to fill a position... We can all learn from Coach Secrist.

Put another State Championship on the board for Region 9! Good job snow canyon and desert hills. Both great teams

DC fan- I agree! My friends in Heber will attest to this for sure! That baseball program needs a Secrist like guy to put some new energy into that program. There are lots of programs that have "great guys" Wasatch being one of them, but after years of futility, I think that this last year should be the straw that broke the camels back. If that administration can't see that a change is due, then good luck trying to compete in 4A next year, when you are barely competitive in 3A. Park City will be very competitive going forward for the main reason that we have a guy who has not only played at the next level, but wants to build a youth program feeding into the high school. It takes more than just being a "great guy" to motivate, inspire and build young athletes. Just sayin'...

@josewales.
I think you need to pay more attention to 3A vs. 4A. The 3A programs in the state have been better than 4A since SC and SF moved down. We were playing them for the title in 4A, and we play them at the end in 3A. I know they're glad to go back to 4A so they can win again. At least the last couple of years the quality isn't even close.

JParkerfan- Definitely not dissing on the southern schools here, most of them could hold their own in any division in baseball. My point was that Wasatch took 3rd in an average region, when JD was having a down year, and JM, Uintah, and Union were not very good either. True, the top few teams could play up a division, it's like that in many sports, however, as a whole, 4A is more balanced. I just think that they need a new skipper at the wheel to lead them into new waters. That was the intent of my comment. Again, if mediocrity is ok, then don't change, but if you want to get better, then you have to do something different than what you have been doing, or you can't expect a different result right?

I would say that 3A baseball is better than 4A especially its top teams. However, I also agree that Wasatch will be put in a tougher league than it is now. Spanish Fork is going back up to 4A and in their league. Also in this league is Maple Mountain, which has a strong program as does Salem Hills. Provo is solid year in and year out and only loses three seniors. Springville is also very young. Wasatch needs to step up or they won't get to the tournament. I think next year 4A will be better than 3A on balance as losing SF will help 4A regain some strength. I actually think Corner Canyon could field a decent team next year and beyond and Skyline will be back full throttle.
