What were the circumstances regarding the Justice Dept. actions?

There is much written about the Justice Depts. actions but little about WHY, WHAT?

I've heard little about what the AP did in relation to a terrorist attack which prompted these very serious measures.

Truthseeker, I think the issue is the AP broke the story of the failed bomb attack a day before the government was to make their announcement, which means that someone in the justice department leaked the story to the AP. There was an immediate outcry from congress both Republicans and Democrats but mostly Republicans to find out who had leaked the story.

The DOJ launched an investigation but got nowhere, so as a last ditch effort they subpoenaed the AP records hoping to find information about the leak and then work backwards to see who in the DOJ had called. Actually that didn't work either. They still don't know who the leaker was.
