Having had a child that was 8-years old that had this type of abuse, it is good to see that charges were filed, even though years later. It took our child about that long to surface an event and person. It involved a lot of hard years and a lot of counseling and medical care in a child that used to be very kind and loving.

These type abusers and assaulters still exist and it amazing how many do not register as required when they move or change locations. Go online to the Department of Corrections page and see how many are not located, are unknown, and are out there, somewhere. It is hard enough on a person that these individuals, when known, are living next to your children and grandchildren.

Parents need to be vigilant, even at church, scouts, activities of any sort when your children are in your care. The impact of a bad person will live with those children forever. Thank goodness for the person that Elizabeth Smart is. She has done a lot for parents and children but I know it is not easy for such a remarkable person as she is to the World.
