Hoooweeeee!!! Those Sunday School boys are still on a tear in volleyball and
I'm just loving it! Btw, my reference to "Sunday School boys" is
not a dig at BYU. Anyone who read my posts in the past knows that I'm a
diehard BYU fan and the reference was to counter the many noxious posts from the
haters who constantly ridiculed BYU because the best athletes in the country
will never choose BYU because of their honor code, or so they claimed. Thus my
reference to no name Sunday School boys, choir boys, etc. It makes my heart
warm when they win because for me, it truly eases the pain from the haters venom
anytime.Go Cougars! Get that hardware and bring it home.
CRUSHING DEFEAT of Penn State. First two sets the Cougars just ran away with
it. Then the Cougars spotted Penn State a 7-1 lead in the third set, put the
hammer down mid way through and made a 10-3 run to finish them off going away.
Fantastic Domination. Best Cougar team ever! Looking forward to Saturday nigh!
Was this on tv anywhere?
Hey There thebigsamoan! Your reference to the Sunday School boys was
understood. The lost boys that mock will never understand and will not know the
joys of righteous living. They think the joy is found in the destination alone
and not the joyful journey with others. It probably drives them crazy when the
Sunday School boys have success like post season play, national championships
and high draft status and yet these little things are relegated to nice trophys
but nothing like joy of the gospel, missionary service and eternal families. I
for one extend a invitation to all who don't understand why a World Series
ring or a Super Bowl ring is nothing compared to an eternal family to come unto
Christ and have that dark and lost feeling replaced with hope, peace and the
Light of Christ.
Tilka: It was on internet streaming video from the NCAA. They could learn a
thing or two from BYUTV because it was choppy and not a very good feed.
@Tilka - not sure if it was on tv but went online to home of BYUCougar Atheletic
Home Page" and go to Scedule to see if game being broadcast on tv. Well
found it but watched it at online to my ipad at ncaa.com or .org. I also found
out it might be on espn or espnu for this Saturday.Nice win Cougars!
Wow, BYU Volleyball and Rugby tomorrow. Still no answer if going to be on tv or
online for BYU Rugby yet. Anyone know?
Impressive straight set wins (last couple of games). Good luck in finals!.
So does anyone know how many PAC 10 power teams were in the final four? My
guess 0.I love my independance.
ESPN-U is currently listing the championship game on their "TV Guide"
for 7 PM Mountain, Saturday evening.Great job Cougs, and stomp the
So glad to see them playing so well. I wish BYU TV could have picked up the
game. I did look to see if it was on. Here in Nor Cal we don't get much
press about NCAA Volleyball. ESPN.com had nothing and even KSL did not have the
results up this morning. Thank you Deseret News.I have stopped
following BYU sports on Deseret News because of the vitriol in the comment
board. Nice to see only positive comments. Thank you everyone.
Congratulations Cougars on a dominating win over Penn St to advance to the
national championship game!Saturday will be an historic day for BYU
- playing for the Rugby national championship at 1pm on South Field and then
playing for the Men's Volleyball national championship at 7pm in Pauley
Pavilion.I'll be at the Rugby match and watching the Volleyball
match on ESPNU!Go Cougars!
I hope the NCAA will agree soon to go to an 8-team NC tournament format for
men's volleyball. I'm not against having teams qualify automatically
from the midwest and the east, but the walk-overs last night in the semifinals
(UCI over Loyola and BYU over Penn State) demonstrated that the AQ teams from
outside the MPSF typically aren't on the same level. Neither Loyola nor
Penn State would have qualified for the MPSF conference tournament, so it
doesn't make sense to put them in the national semifinal round.
esodijeCouldn't agree more. An 8-team NC tournament for
Men's Volleyball is a no-brainer.The MPSF semis with #1 BYU, #2
Long Beach St, #3 UC Irvine, and #4 UCLA were more competitive than the NCAA
Championship semis, with #13 Loyola-Chicago and #14 Penn St.
I don't agree that the lower MPSF teams are necessarily better than the
eastern teams. Penn State had big leads over BYU in sets 2 and 3. Loyola
nearly took a set from UCI. Stanford, Pepperdine and Long Beach are supposedly
among the elite MPSF teams and all of them got swept in the conference
tournament.BYU has a big challenge tomorrow--to beat a very good
team for the third time in one year. Good luck, Cougars!
Great... but what was the score??? Swept by what margins?
RockOn"Great... but what was the score??? Swept by what
margins?"BYU won 25-21, 25-16, 25-22.Scores were in
the article and in the caption to the accompanying photo.
