I find it interesting that the article writer decided to leave out key parts of the study that do not favor the view of religions as simply victims of a secular society but actually more often than not the cause of hostilities towards other religions. The Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life also found that social hostilities involving religion are 3.5 times higher in countries with very high government favoritism of religion than in countries with low levels of favoritism. The study found that some government restrictions have a stronger association with social hostilities than others. Government policies or actions that clearly favor one religion over others have the strongest association with social hostilities involving religion.

Can someone give me an example or two of Religious Restrictions in the US?

People really just need to live and let live. Too many people getting mad about what is none of their business.

I agree with George. It seems one of the measures of diminished religious freedom is social tensions related to religion, with the Boston bombings as an example.

If my religion tells me to kill non-believers, and other religions use resistance to my views as evidence of diminished religious freedom, isn't that a little disingenuous?

Isn't that the same as forcing relgious affiliated hosptials to provide blood transfusions if they accept medicare or maedicaid?

Isn't that the same as forcing relgious affiliated hosptials to provide fertility procedures if they accept medicare or maedicaid?

Isn't that the same as forcing relgious affiliated hosptials to provide circumcisions if they accept medicare or maedicaid?

Isn't that the same as forcing relgious affiliated hosptials to provide pharmaceutical psychiatry if they accept medicare or maedicaid?

Yes - pretty silly logic.

The Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life recent research found that more often than not that religions were the cause of hostilities towards other religions not secularism. The their research also found that social hostilities involving religion are 3.5 times higher in countries with very high government favoritism of religion than in countries with low levels of favoritism. The study found that some government restrictions have a stronger association with social hostilities than others. Government policies or actions that clearly favor one religion over others have the strongest association with social hostilities involving religion. It is time to focus on the real problem which is those that spread the idea this expansive view that their religious rights are only protected when they can force the rest of society to live by their religious dictates.

JoeBlow,
Nope, it was a hit.

Hospitals are required to provide abortions if they accept public funds. estblished by a federal court ruling in Alaska, and reinforced by congressional action, in which our own jim matheson siding with forcing abortions at catholic hospitals.

I see you did not try to argue with Obamacare violating religious freedoms.

LDS? lib,
I did't know catholic hospitals opposed:
blood transfusions
fertility procedures
circumcision
pharmaceutical psychiatry
Oh - they DON'T. Thanks for bringing mistruths into the discussion.

listing proceedures not being forced on hospitals and saying they are is pretty silly (as well as dishonest). but if those procedures ARE being forced on hospitals, thanks for providing MORE examples of religious liberties being trampled by the feds.

=============

Agreed.
It's not the secular atheiests who organize and demonstration down at Temple Square every General Conference.

It wasn't the secular athieists who would not allow the Islamic Cultural center to be built in New York.

It wasn't the secular atheists who burned Korans and insighted riots in the Middle East killing dozens of Americans.

It wasn't the secular atheists who burned millions at the stake for witchcraft.

======

1. I never singled out Catholics, but other religions do not practice common medical procedures.
2. A D&C is a medical procedure defined as an abortion.
3. Even the LDS church allows for abortions, espicially when it is medically necessary.
4. The Amish aren't being required to do ANYTHING by the federal Government. Why don't you go seek medical attention at one of their hospitals?

@lost

There is a simple solution for the catholic hospitals if they want to dictate their religion to thief patients, don't take the publics money.

Airnaut,
Admitting you and LDS? lib are the same by answering as him?

George,
your response shows that religions HAVE TO SURRENDER something to be allowed in the public domain - contrary to the 1st amendment.

the question was not WHY the religious rights have been impinged or removed, but whether or not any HAD been impinged or removed.

And along those same lines, we can include religious business owners who are in the wedding industry who are now required to serve homosexual customers or lose their business.

Re JoeBlow

You Want 2 Religious Restrictions? Here Are 3.

Mormons aren't Allowed to Practice Polygamy.

Jehovas Witness Are Forbidden To Withhold Blood Transfusions From Their Children Should They Be Medically Necessary.

MoslemsMay Not ExecUte Ex Moslems Who Chose To Leave The Faith, Nor Are They Allowed To Honor Kill Their Daughters.

Sorry For The Caps, Having Text Editor Problems.

@lost

The only "right" they have lost is to use my money against me to force me to follow their dictates.
