Karma strikes again. Justice Roberts agreed with the majority opinion of the
court in Flores-Figueroa v. US (2008) that aggravated identity theft required
the perpetrator to KNOW that the stolen ID belonged to a real person.He
and his pals in black robes thus made it infinitely harder to prosecute identity
theft.Apparently, making up a social security number to get a job or a
credit card is no big deal.
