Funny, I live in Syracuse and this is the first I had heard that my city was switching to this method. I have never had a problem voting and I have a 100% voting record. This may be a solution that is looking for a problem. If anything, lets get with the 21st century and move to internet voting. Most of us bank online, why not vote online.
Yes, this is a major catastrophe of the election process where politicians can control where the ballots are mailed. With such a mobile population there is no way to control or monitor who is voting, even by internet.
Polling booths is the last and most secure means of controlling the voting population. Cost benefits are irrelevant when it comes to our Constitution and individuals right to have uncontested voters during elections. This mail in ballot will open the flood gates of voter validation for every election and every position. I would challenge every mail in vote if I had the option.
And what do you do about ballots lost in the mail? Its a losing augment when they start spouting cost and security of our last voice in government elections. Public records and mailing address cannot verify who is at an adddress and who is eleigible to vote.
Its not a valid form of elections and definitely not within the restrictions of the Constitution demanding physical presence and observations at the voting box. Let the Latinos protest all they want, the americans want the voting booth back so illegal aliens can't vote and interfere with our government.
Voting should be online, That would make it even more easy and probably would have a higher voter turn out.
