    "The little train that could"!

"PAC 12 not such a bumpy road as we thought, or the train found some high octane fuel".

Yet, Utah keeps chugging along threw their Pac-12 tournament as a #10 seed with no signs of slowing down. The Cougies can't even handle a small speed bump (San Diego) which derailed their train and NCAA tournament hopes.

Utah has shown resilience and a lot of heart!
BYU has shown an epic flop!

Be vewy, vewy, quiet; I'm hunting Ducks! Bwhahahaha

Whatsnu - "From an avid BYU fan, congratulations Utes on your unbelievably extraordinary, electrifying win over California (at least as Bill Walton would describe it)."

Walton does talk about every team that steps onto the MGM Grand court as if they're a reincarnation of the Dream Team, but he otherwise gives some interesting insight and commentary.

Utah's landscape is spectacular and the Utes have played amazingly enough to win a couple of tourney games, so congratulations and good luck against the Ducks!

Some classy comments from most BYU fans!!! To the one's that call the PAC12 pathetic....4-6 teams going to the NCAA Tournament I will take that type of pathetic conference...If the U loses to Oregon I know the trolls will be out. It's nice to know the classy, not trashy, BYU fans will be there too. That also goes for Utah fans too. I have gained some new respect for true Cougar fans!

Way to go Utes! Keep it rolling.

SW - Utah has three wins against teams in the top 50 of the RPI. How many does byU have? That's right, they don't.

Rock - Sometimes a player has to transfer to a real conference to reach his potential.

To all the classier BYU fans - sorry about Chris B! The DN just keeps on printing him, just like they do your lil' dUcky!

From an avid BYU fan and Utah alum, congratulations on a great win and gutsy performance!

I'll never understand why teams don't foul when they're up by three with the clock winding down and the only chance the other team has is hitting a buzzer-beating 3-pointer. California blew it when they didn't foul DuBois before he hit his game-tying shot.

Utah may killed California's NCAA dreams. Good luck tonight against Oregon.

exciting run for the Utes. Odds are still very much stacked against them to win the pac-12 tournament by winning 2 more.

Utah's win over Cal is not going to have enough of an effect to help ASU get in.

CFIT: "Bad win for the conference. This win likely takes one more PAC12 team out of contention for the NCAA."

Not likely. As per ESPN's Bubble Watch:

"he Bears took a bit of a plummet after that aforementioned loss to Utah, ending the night in Lunardi's last four byes. The positive news is there is still a gap between them and the bubble abyss, they're done playing, and it would be a borderline miracle for them to be leapfrogged collectively in the next few days. So they're still a lock in BW's humble opinion."

So really what it did was opened up the possibility of a 6th team making it, either in Utah, or if Utah doesn't win the final but goes to the final, their RPI may improve enough to lessen the impact of ASU's loss to Utah, moving ASU from the fringe of bubble extinction to the land of bubble hope. It may be a loooong two days before Selection Sunday.

Great win for the Utes! Now they just need to win out in their conference tournament and pick up one NCAA tournament win in order to finish the overall season with a .500 record or better. Can they do it?

  • Tators Hyrum, UT

I've learned not to bet against the Utes. I've been wearing around a red Ute hat for more than a week, from losing a bet on the first game that started this Ute 4-game winning streak. I've decided to keep wearing it until they lose.
May this March-Madness continue. It keeps things in the sports world very interesting.

The PAC 12 may not be the best in basketball, but let's at least give the U some credit here. The program is on the right track.

As a casual BYU fan, I can say California is better than most teams in our conference. Coach K is making progress. It will be nice to see the U get back to being a respected program and represent the state well.

Amazing run, Utes! From a diehard Cougar fan, I'm tickled to death to see the phenomenal transformation you've gone through. Absolutely amazing and beautiful to watch! Here's hoping you will win it all. I no longer doubt that you can after watching the highlights of your last few games.

Must the cup be always half empty, or are you just so incapable of seeing things from a positive perspective? Rather than "This just shows how truly terrible the PAC 12 is", couldn't it be that it shows how good and very competitive their teams are?

Maybe our cougs can learn something from the Utes this year as far as playing with heart and soul to the end. Or perhaps they did but just didn't have it in them this year.

Well, good luck next year Cougs! And keep rolling Utes!

Win or lose tonight (Friday) night, or any night, this run of 4 straight wins hopefully shows that Larry Krystkowiak is getting Utah's men's basketball team use to winning. Congratulations! But, as always, in any competitive effort, one learns one can never rest on one's laurels. And concentration at the task at hand, and not the anticipated next task (i.e., game), is always paramount. Not just to give lip service to that concept. But to execute in the task at hand indeed.

This hopefully continues to become the "first shall be last", but more importantly, "the last shall be first", if grit, determination, and yes, even a bit of lucky, or luck enhanced by adroit execution, continue to prevail!

Felt like old times tonight, what an awesome game.
Crazy to think that with as tough as things have seemed for Utah the last couple of seasons, they've still managed to beat every team in the conference at least once in that time span with the exception of Arizona and UCLA. If they can get by Oregon again, Utah will get a chance to whittle that down to one. Not bad considering Utah's in it's darkest days of the program - or should I say WERE in their darkest days.
Love the continuing progress ... Go Utes!
