It is wonderful to help the needy, especially children.
But, is this the reason we have a state government, and take money from hard working people? Why not let citizens decide which charitable goals they want to support voluntarily?
Or, are we slipping down the slope to the socialist nirvana where we will forcibly take from each according to their ability, and give to each according to their needs?
Let someone start a "hearing aids for poor kids" charity and qualify as a 501(c)(3) charitable group and encourage folks to support that. But NOT make it another government bureaucracy mandate.
