" said Aaron Frasier, the founder of Utah Vapors, a group selling e-cigarettes to help people gradually decrease their nicotine use. "
- Please correct this statement. Spelling of my name is Frazier and we are not a retailer. The Utah Vapers is a consumer advocacy group with a focus on Tobacco Harm Reduction (THR) through the use of electronic cigarettes and other smokeless tobacco products shown to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with smoking. We are comprised of consumers, retail vendors, manufacturers and supporters. We are not affiliated with nor funded by any retail operation or manufacturer nor do we have funding for operations. We are not paid lobbyists. We are not affiliated with the tobacco companies nor the pharmaceutical companies.
The media, politicians and the anti-nicotine/tobacco zealots need to stop referring to the dissolvable products as candy. By continuing to do so, you are teaching our children that this is a candy product and thus acceptable. It is YOU who are largely responsible for the uptake in flavored tobacco products by our children. You do not refer to flavored alcohol as candy and are highly irresponsible by doing so with tobacco products.
Representative Ray lied when he said that they products are marketed as nicotine replacement therapy. They are an ALTERNATIVE for adult smokers who wish to still enjoy nicotine (which has been shown to have health benefits) with out all the other thousands of chemicals in tobacco. The tax is outrageous and the banning of online sales will do nothing to stop minors from obtaining them. It will however put an undue hardship on the electronic cigarette shops and the people who use these devices.
This is silliness.
We tax Tobacco because people who smoke tobacco cost the taxpayers and society more money because of their deadly habit. People who vape nicotine through their nicotine juices are doing something 1000X healthier than people who smoke cigarettes.
Our company sells e-cig supplies and nicotine juices and I'm sure this "law" will bring more customers to our online shop, because we won't have to charge those stupid taxes.
