Comments about ‘Linda & Richard Eyre: Remembering Elder LeGrand Richards’

As a new missionary in he old Language Training Center in Salt Lake City, Elder Richards came to speak to all the missionaries one night. As he walked slowly to the podium, two canes helping him to do so, I wondered if he would make it. However, as soon as he put those caines down and started speaking, his whole body seemed to change. He stood erect, catching a wave of enthusism that flooded through the hall, and spoke as if he were 25 years younger and releasing a lifetime to commitment and conviction that still gives me the shivers. When he finished, he quietly walked past us all in the same way he came, forever etching in my memory his testimony and valiant and unapolitic defense of my faith. I only wish that I could now capture the flame that filled my soul when he left.
