Congrats Rand...I had no idea you were retiring.
I'm one of the many that count Rand as a friend. He has been brutally honest with me and my two sons when needed. He has chewed my boys butt when I could not. He has hugged them and pulled them up when I was not there. He has taught me and my two sons many great lessons. An excellent teacher, motivator, mentor, and friend.
Enjoy the little extra time with your wife and grandchildren!
So happy for you Rand. Great story about a wonderful coach & good friend.
Rand was my pitching coach @ Bingham. Still 20 years later, I look back and miss the times I spent with him, learning not only the game of baseball, but the game of life. He was always so tough on me, but it made me a better player & the person I am today. Rand taught me how to compete, how to play smart & and work hard for what I wanted. He always pushed academics and made us realize how important it was to excel in school. I admire him so much & have followed his coaching career in the papers for the past 20 plus years. Sad to see him retire, but understand why he did it, and am happy for him. Thank you Rand for making me the person I am today. I owe a great deal of the success in my life to you, Joey & Coach Bevan. Enjoy your time off with Viv.....Next time your in Phoenix, drop me a line. I'll buy you a cold one.
Sincerely,
Dr. J
PS....We both know your curve ball was never quite as good as mine :)
Great job Rand! Those who criticize you are jealous. Those who respect you understand the hard work you put in to help your girls excel. The state tournament won't be the same without you pacing the sideline.
