The article might have a point if these two weren't deserving of the awards. Lawrence was debatable but probably in the top two and Hathaway was the top, nobody close.
Also, I think Streep was recently nominated, wasn't Sally Field as well. Geez, wasn't an actress in her 80's nominated? How about Judi Dench? She's been nominated a couple of times this decade and she's in her 60's. I guess there probably is some sexism in Hollywood but not as bad as one thinks and plenty of examples to show that actresses that aren't 21 can win the Oscar.
