Ken, very interesting article. I don't think I've read an article from you before. Good stuff!
Few of us were around during those days. We know BYU won two titles in the NIT when that was considered the very big tournament. However, I know by about the time this championship was won, the NCAA tournament was starting to be considered the bigger tournament. Is that correct and did BYU consider that 60's championship to be a national championship? I assume it did by things I've read/seen, but wanted to ask someone who was around then.
The interesting thing is that BYU and St Joes (both in the top 20) went to the NIT so I would think that the NIT was still considered the national championship at this time.
