Olynyk is awesome! He has come from a reserve player to a NBA lottery pick, via a red shirt season last year. He's one smooth player; especially for a 7 footer! Don't get got up in the hype and rankings Zags; just keep playing Gonzaga basketball! They need to stay focused on tomorrow nights game in Provo; which will be a tough test!

He plays way too physical and is allowed to brutalize our players without fouls being called.

Save your season Cougs: Beat the Zags Thursday. Show some heart. Be the beast. Take control. Show some pride.

Gonzaga played quite stupidly at the end of the Butler game. These guys are not supermen.

He should totally go pro. He really is a great player and like Dellavedova, I am tired of seeing him playing against BYU.

Go Cougars!

Mark it down!

Bringing your conference record all time against the only two noteable programs Gonzaga and St Marys to

1-4 last year?

0-4 this year?

1-8 overall?

LOL They own you.

Where's Jimmer? Totally dominated Gonzaga in the NCAA tournament a couple of years ago. That being said, will root for the Zags to win it all. Mark Few is a class act.

Nice to see that the only game in Utah (not tonight's but the fact that BYU IS the only game in Utah) draws 50% of comments from those without game.

@Chris B. I'm pretty sure that record is still better than your pac-12 football record. That's all the troll food I have for today, so eat it up while you can.

Davies can't guard this guy. The Y unfortunately, will lose. Bummer.

Remind us who DOESN'T own U in the PAC 10.2!

And let's not forget, the team that's only been owned the last couple of years by Gonzaga and Saint Mary's, has owned U for years.

BYU leads the overall series 129-125, has won 7 straight, and 11 of the last 12

Average score last 12 games, BYU 74 Utah 62, including three straight 20-point blowouts at the Huntsman Center.

During the Dave Rose era:

BYU 205-63 (77%) 8 straight 20+ win seasons, 6 NCAA tournaments, 4 conference championships
Utah 112-134 (46%) 6 losing seasons, 1 NCAA tournament, 1 conference championship

2013 RPI Rankings/Records

#60 BYU (20-9)
#175 Utah (11-15)

-------

btw, in 2010, BYU swept Saint Mary's and Gonzaga, as well as every current member of the PAC 10.2 that the Cougars played - Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah(twice) - winning all but one game by double figures.

"Davies can't guard this guy."

Davies(6'9") is a power forward. Olynyk(7'0") is a true center.

Not many power forwards could guard an athletic, excellent shooting 7-footer like Olynyk.

Olynyk's "perfect" game against BYU in Spokane reminded me of a similar "perfect" game by the late great Kresimir Cosic many decades ago.

Brandon Davies is soft. When he plays against other softies that are smaller than he he is good, but when he plays against legit big men, he disappears like a BYU fan at the end of a Utah Vs. byu football game.

When I picture soft fans, I picture suspenders-boy shooting his mouth off after the BYU-Utah game and then cowering like a frightened little girl as soon as Bronco turns to face him - the everlasting face of the MUSS.

Davies, btw, is 6-0 versus the rundown Utes.

They are having a teriffic year and are loaded with talent right now. They will probably beat BYU tonight but it will be closer than in Spokane.

When Olynyk turns pro next year and the rest of Gonzaga's seniors graduate Gonzaga will be just an average team and will not compete as well in the league or natonally.

I disagree. Gonzaga doesn't rebuild, they reload. What is it, like 13 straight NCAA appearances? This team is so deep, there second five could take 4th or 5th in the WCC. There's no guarntee that Olynyk won't come back, either. They lose Edi (barely plays), Harris (NBA second round pick) and Hart (partial starter). That's all. Mark my word, they will be a top 25 team next year; they are deep!

@Spokane Ute

If Olynyk leaves (I think very possible), then Gonzaga will lose their two leading scorers and their three leading rebounders (Hart is 3rd) leaving Dower (in the top 5 in both, but not really an elite talent) to hold it down inside. They will shift to being more guard-heavy which is right where BYU will be next year as well.

They may be good, but I doubt they will be top-25 good (at least not without Olynyk).

They also have a 7'-1" Karnowski, and 6'-6" Barham coming back. Sam Dower is 6'-9". I'm not sure what the incoming Freshman class will bring. But like I said, this program reloads, they don't rebuild. They have been a perenial top 25 team for the last 8-10 years. With 3 seniors, and possibly Olynyk leaving; I don't see that changing. Good players graduate, and good players step right in. We shall see. I'm too focused on this group to worry about next year. It's the best Gonzaga team to date. IMO Should be a great game tonight; BYU is VERY capable of pulling off the upset! Especially in Provo. Take care guy!

FYI
Gonzaga will be adding Ryan Edwards 7'-0" and Luke Meikle 6'-8" to next years squad. Both are lightly regarded, but that never seems to matter once they get to Spokane.

Spokane Ute,
Height means nothing. Look at the Utah Utes. They have height but are the cellar dwellers of the PAC 10.2.
