Congradulations DEA, you have been very successful in doing what you have been tasked to do.
Problem is, this is a war that has been fought for decades and inspite of endless battles that have won, the war never can be won. Meaning that this is a wasted effort and wasted billions of dollars in enforcement efforts and prison costs. Such efforts never can stop the supply of drugs from getting to users.
All is not lost however. There is a technique to fight drug use that works. Its called education. Education is why I and anyone who doesn't use illegal drugs, ... doesn't use illegal drugs. It doesn't work on everybody, but unlike the war on drugs it does work. Education teaches people that illegal drugs degrade health and degrades quality of life.
Given how much debt we have, and given that we don't have enough money to do even things we need to do as a nation, why are we continuing to waste money in the war on drugs?
I know of a large retailer who suffers enormous daily shrinkage from drug users walking out with merchandise, only to return or go to other locations to refund their haul for gift cards that they sell on the street for cash. The addicted users have no shortage of cash to provide the millions of dollars to the meth chefs.
