I recently looked into checking my children's credit status, just to make sure there wasn't any funny business going on. You can do it through the free annual credit reports, but you're required to send in photocopies of minors' vital information, which in and of itself could be a risk.
You can stagger out report checks with the three free report providers and check with one of them every four months instead of having to wait a year between checks. Helps to keep a closer eye on things.
