That crossing is a death trap -- even when all streetlights are burning bright.
Very poorly marked with warnings to drivers in advance. Three lanes in each direction, so pedestrians may be hidden by vehicles in adjacent lanes. Forty mile per hour speed limit. Pedestrians seem to think they are safe because it is a marked crosswalk, so they are less careful than they should be. Mid-block crosswalks are rather unusual and catch drivers by surprise.
I'm familiar with that crosswalk and one in the next block, but have still had some close calls.
The driver in this case may have been completely without fault.
All FOUR of the victims of this accident -- including the driver -- should talk with lawyers about a suit against Ogden City and / or UDOT.
