I'm only saying this because every time someone else gets arrested for this same thing, it's said about them. But I hope they throw the book at him. Someone supposedly living his religion should have known better, and that age gap isn't even something you could write off as a supposed "relationship". Here's hoping the victim can recover. Tragic.
The boy's family claims it's not rape and the issue is between him and his bishop. That implies that there was a consensual sexual relationship. Someone should tell this family that, in the eyes of the law, a 14-year-old cannot consent. Therefore, any sexual relationship with a person of that age is automatically child rape.
Fortunately for you all your judgement will occur after the facts are known and presented.
