What about Max Hall? I thought he was in line for the QB coach job?. Will he be off the staff next year?
Would have liked seeing Max as qb coach, but I'm sure Jason will be good. Steve Clark would keep former cougar players in.
I guess Ty does not want to become part of the Merry-go-round that is taking place at BYU with coaches the last few years. He would have been good, but some time you just get so comfortable out of the spot light you just enjoy life.
Some programs are respected enough to land national title winning coaches as assistants
Some programs look to Simon frasier.
Neither approach is better or worse. Just different.
Not sure how I feel about these hires. Thinking how well the Doman thing went, I figured BYU would stay away from former BYU quarterbacks who are not named Ty Detmer.
When Bronco Mendenhall hires assistants his biggest priority is that they will not be able to threaten his job.
Bronco does not hire anyone good, because they may overtake his job.
This is why Bronco never has any assistants offered head coaching positions.
Whittingham, on the other hand, hired Chow and Anderson, and afterward they got their chance to be head coaches.
Come on Bronco, hire a big name. Or are you scared fans will want the assistant to succeed you?

That's nuts.
Correct me if I'm wrong:
Chow was hired to be the O-coordinator, not an position coach.
Wasn't Anderson a coordinator as well?
Apples and oranges, Olympus. Apples and oranges.
